Mark Cuban
Mark Cuban is now known as the owner of the Dallas Mavericks and as one of the richest media personalities in America. A few decades ago, his life was completely different, and all he had was a $500 loan to start his company, MicroSolutions.
He ended up transforming those $500 into $6 million, which is what he sold the company for. Before that, he shared an apartment with five other men and didn't even own a mattress.
Barbara Corcoran
Barbara Corcoran grew up in poverty, sharing a room with her nine siblings. She always knew she wanted to work in real estate, so she got a $1,000 loan from her boyfriend at age 23 and started her business.
Barbara struggled for a few years and almost hit rock bottom when her boyfriend and business partner left her, telling her "you will not succeed without me." Obviously, he was wrong because Barbara ended up building the largest brokerage business and selling it for $66 million.
Robert Herjavec
Robert Herjavec lived in complete poverty during his childhood. He grew up in Yugoslavia and lived in a house that had no water and no floors. Things started to get better for his family when they immigrated to Canada when he was eight years old.
In his 20s, he started a company in his basement that eventually sold for $30.2 million. He then went from business to business and is now the shark we know and love today. These stories sure give us a lot of hope, right?
