#3. Record Stores
The 70s wasn't only the golden age of shopping malls, but also of pop music and rock and roll. People would flock to the malls' record stores and spend hours looking for the latest and coolest hit album.

When CDs were released to the market in 1982, the popularity of record shops naturally rocketed. These shops would usually be filled with portraits of David Bowie and Bon Jovi, among other idols of the time.
#2. Smoking Areas
You probably know that smoking cigarettes was synonym of being cool back in the days. Unlike today, smoking was allowed virtually anywhere, and shopping malls were no exception.

Smoking used to be allowed in virtually all shopping centers, both in the main halls of the building as well as inside the shops. In fact, magazines would frequently feature pictures of customers smoking while shopping.
#1. Arcade Games
If you've ever watched the Netflix series Stranger Things, then this may ring a bell. Back in the 80s, arcade games were a thing, and spending all day playing games in the mall was every school kid's dream.

Back in the glory days of arcade games, most shopping malls would feature their own video game room, and people would always wait in line to play the most popular games like Asteroids and Space Invaders.
