As the years go by and as the feminist and LGBTQ+ movements begin to grow, people are slowly beginning to question the hegemonic gender roles and the way in which children are to be raised. In this context, it’s more common for parents to choose to raise their children in a gender-neutral environment. The main argument behind this is that if we raise our kids without reproducing gender stereotypes, they will feel free and safe in whatever identity they choose.
