#20. Love At First Sight
Chance the Rapper may rock the stage, but live comedy isn't his strength. In 2019, he and Cecily pulled off a rather bizarre sketch in which she pretended to be a newly single lady who felt instantly attracted to him. Chance's character swept Cecily off her feet... literally!
Chance raises her into the air and starts wobbling along the bar, knocking over a few wine glasses here and there and bumping into tables. Almost all the other actors broke characters at least once, probably because they actually feared they'd get hurt!
#19. Inside The Beltway
If done properly, a costume change can be a practical and effective tool during a live sketch, as a simple change of clothes can make characters move across time and space. However, everything went wrong when the backstage crew tried to swap Aidy Bryant's clothes during one of her Season 45 sketches.
Bryant was playing a TV reporter and at one point her clothes were meant to be switched between clips to give away the impression of a news flashback. However, the camera was still rolling when one of the assistants took off her coat, and the rest of the actors couldn't help but break character and burst into laughter.
#11. Debby Downer: Disney World
Debbie Downer is one of the most hilarious characters to ever feature on our favorite late-night show. She made her SNL debut in 2004 alongside Lindsay Lohan and a few other legendary comedians.
The stark contrast between Debbie's depressing lines and the merriness surrounding Disney in Debbie Downer: Disney World was just too much to bear. The whole cast lost character the second Rachel Dratch started grinning right when the camera was zooming on her face.
#10. The Californians: Brian Has Cancer
The Californians is one of SNL's most popular segments ever, and greatly because of the endless number of character breaks it has caused. Out of all of Kristen Wig and Fred Armisen's bloopers, the one in Stuart Has Cancer definitely stands out.
The first segment of the sketch is the funniest, basically because everything gets out of control. While Kristen Wig and Fred Armisen can barely make it through two sentences in a row, Bill Hater can't seem to open his mouth without breaking character.
#8. Close Encounter
Remember the time when Oscar-winning actor Ryan Gosling starred made an unexpected guest appearance on an SNL sketch in 2015?
#5. Dog Court
Dog Court was definitely one of 2019's greatest SNL sketches. The parody features Cecily Strong playing a judge who presides over a court made up of dogs. As adorable as this idea may sound, featuring dogs on live sketches is a plan that can easily backfire.. and so it did!
While things actually got to a good start, things tarted going astray when Cecily tried to deliver her verdict while holding a pug on her lap. The pooch began jolting uncontrollably and even knocked off her glasses.
