Repairmen Find 2,000-Year-Old Road In Jerusalem

An Ancient Discovery

When a pipe burst in the neighborhood of Silwan, Jerusalem, the repairmen assigned to fix it never thought they would end up finding something like this. Because they were working in the Old City, they had to be accompanied by a team of archaeologists in order to preserve everything.

While they were fixing the leak, they found a 2,000-year-old road that is now believed to have been a pilgrimage road. Ancient Jews took this road three times a year to get to the holy city of Jerusalem and bring sacrifices for God on important holidays. it is believed that 2.7 million people took this road every year.
