This Hotel From The Middle Ages Is Supposedly Haunted

Haunted?

After it was re-built, the Inn operated for hundreds of years. In the 18th century, the inn was notorious for being used as a base of operation for the Hawkhurst Gang of smugglers. They created many underground passages and tunnels where they conducted their shady business for decades, plus hidden cellars and doors.

In 1770, however, the hotel closed its doors. It remained closed for 200 years until it was re-opened. Since then, guests have claimed to have seen the ghosts of the smugglers roaming its halls and a woman dressed in white sitting by the fireplace. The hotel is now more famous for its hauntings than for its history.
