Furious with the station's decision, Muhammad decided to file a complaint. The organizers told him that he had mispronounced one of the 13 names wrong, and that's why this other guy had been given the prize instead. However, the man came up with a witty plan. He reached out to Spandau Ballet, the musician whose name he had supposedly mispronounced, and guess what?
Muhammad sent Spandau a tape of the competition, and the artist confirmed that he had actually pronounced his name correctly! The radio station was left with no choice but to apologize and grant the 10,000-dollar prize to Muhammad as well.
