This Is Why Hooters Is Disappearing

It Makes People Uncomfortable

There was a time when there was a market for a restaurant whose waitresses are wearing little clothes and all the focus is on their chest, but not anymore. The brand was never targeted to women anyway, but men are also finding the idea uncomfortable nowadays.

The truth is that, in this day and age, this concept doesn't work anymore. Women don't want to be objectified and men don't want to objectify them, so the whole point of Hooters almost doesn't exist anymore.

It's Outdated

Back in the day, casual dining restaurants were huge. Because of the high demand, thousands of these restaurants opened all over the country, and as it tends to happen, the market became saturated.

It is not only Hooters that is struggling but also Applebee's and Outback Steakhouse, and that is because the business model is no longer appealing, especially for younger generations, who are currently more interested in fast food and delivery services.

People Protested Against It

Americans are already more than used to seeing Hooters, but people from other countries are not very happy about the famous chain expanding overseas because of its problematic nature.

In fact, when it was announced that Hooters was expanding to the UK in 2010, people boycotted and protested it. Protesters explained that they thought Hooters was degrading and sexist and that they didn't want it in their country. The location opened there anyway, but people weren't happy about it.
