Baarle-Hertog is an iconic municipality in Belgium. It's notoriety comes from its complicated borders with Baarle-Nassau, another city in the Netherlands. This region comprehends a total of 24 separate parcels of land, none of which is contiguous with the rest of each country.


The jumble of white crosses marks the intertwined towns of Baarle-Hertog and Baarle-Nassau. This peculiar border was created after a treaty in 1843.
