Italian Greyhound
All Greyhounds are known for being very active, fast, hard-working dogs, but the Italian greyhound goes a step further.

Coton De Tulear
The Coton de Tulear is an absolutely adorable breed that looks extremely cuddly and sweet. While they look similar to poodles and other common breeds, they are actually extremely rare.
In fact, they originated in the island of Madagascar, and they are the national mascot of the nation. These dogs don't tend to have many health issues aside from the usual health problems associated with age, and they live up to 16 years.

Of course, it is true that this breed tends to suffer from breathing problems and other complications, but a healthy pug that does not experience such problems tends to live up to 15 years, which is a long time for a dog.
Australian Cattle Dog
You may know this dog breed as the Australian cattle dog or the blue heeler. These gorgeous dogs can grow up to 20 inches in size and weigh up to 50 pounds, and compared to other dogs their size, they tend to live much longer.
In fact, the average lifespan for these dogs is 16 years, some living even longer. Not only do they live a long time, but this breed is known for being extremely intelligent and active.
Labrador Retriever
Labs are very popular because they are super friendly and outgoing. Despite their medium-to-large size, they are considered one of the healthiest dog breeds.
However, bear in mind that Labs need to be exercised regularly or they can become overweight, which will bring about all kinds of issues relating to extra heft. Their lifespan is 12 to 13 years.
Siberian Husky
Originally bred to work in packs and pulling light weight, they are prone to obesity if overfed or improperly exercised. Did you know their eyes can be blue, brown, or one of each?
As they were bred to live in packs, they enjoy family time very much and also, they get on well with other dogs. Even though they are pretty active, Huskies can live up to 12-15 years.

Shibes are considered a Japanese national treasure, which is where they originated. They were brought to America just 60 years ago and they are often referred to as “cats” among dog breeds. Why?
Because they are not as “needy”; they are very active and independent, which has to do with their “hunting” traits. Apart from their allergies and cataracts, they don’t present other problems and they can live up to 12 to 15 years.

What makes this breed the ideal family dog? Well, its portable size, friendly personality, and good looks. Not to mention they are really smart and obedient.
They are impossible to resist with their cute face and fuzzy hair! They are super energetic dogs who will stick around for a long time as their average lifespan is 14 years.
Collie
Thanks to pop-culture this is one of the most recognizable and beloved dog breeds (Lassie, anyone?). Not only are they super sweet with children, they are also very protective and intelligent.
Known for being quite active and athletic, they need regular exercise. Their lives span from 12 to 16 years. However they may experience eye diseases, which can ultimately lead to blindness.
Samoyed
This furry smiley pupper is one of the most gentle active dogs you can find. To keep them healthy and entertained, regular daily exercise is required and of course, regular grooming.
A Sammy confined in solitude will make your life a living hell (and they won’t enjoy it one bit, either). They need love and attention, just like any other creature. Their life expectancy is 12 to 14 years.
Welsh Corgi
These “big dogs” in small packages are one of the most affectionate and loyal breeds. Originally bred to herd cattle, they are really smart and independent.
Their average lifespan is 12 to 15 years. However, due to their shape they are prone to hip and vertebral problems, so be wary of their walking habits!
Yorkshire Terrier
Yorkies are another small bread known for their exceptional longevity. Curious, lively and attention-seekers, they can also be a bit barky, which makes them really good watchdogs. They can live up to 14 to 17 years.
Being terriers, they aren’t total “lapdogs”. Yes, they love keeping your company and are really affectionate but they still keep many terrier traits such as solid guarding and vocal nature.
Maltese
This exceptionally healthy small breed can live up to at least 15 years and females tend to live longer than males. Up to this day, the longest-living Maltese is Zac, who turned 20 in 2016.
Famous Maltese owners include Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Madonna, Miley Cyrus and Eva Longoria. These pooches love company and cuddles, which leads them to experience separation anxiety if left alone for too long.
Beagle
The name “Beagle” comes from a French expression that translates as “loudmouth”, which is indeed a trait of these puppers. They can be very vocal: they bark and howl A LOT.
Among famous Beagles, we have Shiloh, Groomit and obviously: Snoopy! Beagles tend to live at least 12 years. However, there’s a record set by a 27-year-old Beagle
Pomeranian
These fluffy pups are loyal and playful as no other, which makes them a perfect breed to keep. Their life expectancy is of 12 to 16 years or older.
Although they are known for being playful, they can be a little bossy at times and might eventually take on the role of mini guard dog (how cute is that?).
Dachshund
Also known as “Sausage Dog”, Dachshunds can live up to 12 to 17 years and at least one is known to have lived for 21 years, Chanel, who set a Guinness World Record!
They come in different coats and color, and even size! Generally, they are very playful and loyal but they can also be a bit aggressive toward people or other animals, if not trained properly.
Boykin Spaniel
The Boykin Spaniel is a hunter dog by nature. They are incredibly skilled and agile, and they have a sharp nose and sight. Their main preys are birds of most kinds including ducks. Random fact: did you know that the South Carolina legislature named the Boykin spaniel the official state dog in 1984?
Boykin Spaniels live up to 16 years and are full of energy. Coming home to this breed will make you instantly smile. It’s impossible not to form a life bond with them.
New Guinea Singing Dog
The New Guinea Singing Dog lives 18 to 20 years, which is pretty amazing considering one year in dog years is about seven of ours. Just imagine, this handsome young fella could be 120 years!
This breed is actually known because of its curious howl that has quite a musical sound. Unfortunately, the lovely Singing Dog is found only in Papua New Guinea, so you'll have to travel quite a bit in order to pet this beauty.
Chihuahua '
Chihuahuas, much like Pugs, are known for having health issues and yet, they can live up to 17 to 20 years. If you're asking yourself how this can be possible, well, wonder no longer!
It happens to be that this breed is actually pretty immune to genetic disorders, so this increases their chances of a longer and healthier life. So these cute little fellows which are nothing less than the smallest purebred dog in the world, are actually quite strong!
Jack Russell Terrier
If you've ever come across a Jack Russell Terrier you'll understand why they're on the list. They are extremely energetic, and they are the happiest when given companionship or a job to do.

The Shih Tzu is an ancient breed - over 1000 years old, in fact. So you can imagine that this breed has lived through all kinds of things.
Shih Tzus can live up to 20 years and were actually bred by the Chinese to honor the Fierce lion, aiming to create a look-alike. Even though they failed on that front, no one can deny the result was too lovable.
Lhasa Apso
Have you ever seen a hairstyle more fabulous than this? Impossible. The Lhasa Apso are incredibly soft, and they have a long, thick, straight coat that can come in different shades.
Long ago, these dogs used to keep guard in the Himalayan temples found in Tibet. They are considered sacred due to the widespread belief that the souls of the deceased enter the body of this dog after death. Apart from all this, they live up to 15 years.
Ratshi Terrier

This canine can live between 15 to 18 years and is actually the result of a cross between a chihuahua and the Havanese. But they don't look like chihuahuas, don't they?
Australian Shepherd
The Australian Shepherd is actually native to California. Surprised? In spite of this, the small continent embraced this breed. These tender dogs worked side by side with local shepherds and aided in guiding the sheep.
Today you will find them much closer to home, and they love some good company. However, they go crazy with excitement when they are let free to run. They can live up to 18 years.
Rattle Griffon
Such a serious-looking dog, the Rattle Griffon is a personal favorite. I have to admit, this has much to do with the fact that this breed looks like a wise old man.

The Pom-Coton can live up to 16 years and has unique features that set it apart. I'm sure you won't resist their charms, once they start insisting you throw the ball. Just look at this little thing!
