24. COWS ON A FIELD
Dave, a Canadian from Ontario, uses his drone to take amazing photographs. But one day, as he was exploring a pasture he’s been watching in the past, he noticed something weird. His drone soared above and revealed some cows. He had no idea what he would end up doing later…
The animals were grazing and enjoying their day. As the drone got closer for a better look, the man looked at the screen and realized one cow’s life was in danger. What did he do?
23. MILLBROOK FARM
Dave combined his love for animals and photography into this opportunity. On that warm day, he went to a farm in Millbrook, Ontario. He went there before and was allowed to “visit” the cows.
He caught many spectacular views with this gadget!
22. GREEN GRASS
The farm had a pond for the cows so that they can refresh themselves. Dave prepared his drone and climbed on a hill which was near the farmhouse. He was in the best spot he could ever want, so he started piloting the drone.
21. CONTROLLING THE DRONE
From that hill, Dave was able to control the drone and see everything through his monitor, and he could see it with his bare eyes. The cows didn’t mind the drone, and in fact, they were really great models. That’s because cows are very curious by nature.
And talking about curious, this particular cow got into trouble – here she is at #13.
20. SOMETHING ODD WAS ON THE MONITOR!
The cows were not frightened by the device as it passed near them. They were actually very curious and even tried to get close to the drone. As Dave caught their attention, he could check out the herd from a small distance. But that was when he saw something odd on the monitor…
19. A WEIRD SPOT
Dave saw a weird thing on a cow’s nose, so he flew the drone closer to it and got very concerned. He couldn’t understand what was on the cow’s nose… His curiosity would save this animal’s life!

18. WHAT IS WITH THAT NOSE?
Dave took the footage of what he saw, thinking he’d check it out on a bigger screen as soon as he gets home. The video was posted on YouTube on 17 July 2018 and shows how the drone approached the herd and the cow with the weird nose.
17. THE WHITE COW
Getting his drone closer to the white cow revealed something that appeared to sprout from the animal’s snout. It looked like tufts of hair from that distance, but as Dave went home and looked at the high-resolution images, he discovered that there was something completely very painful in the cow’s face!
But what could it actually be?
16. PORCUPINE QUILLS
Unfortunately for this cow, the tufts of hair were actually porcupine quills – dozens of them! The poor cow was probably in terrible pain, and her life was also in danger because of that. You see, these quills will stay embedded in the victim’s wound until they’re removed – they don’t detach on their own…
15. HELP WAS ON THE WAY
The cow needed a vet as soon as possible! If those quills had remained in the cow’s snout, they would slide in time under the skin and cause more problem inside the body. Something had to be done fast, so Dave took his video and went to talk with the farmer.
14. THE COW’S LIFE WAS IN DANGER
The wounds left by the quills were a source of infection. But how did the cow end up with porcupine quills on her snout? Apparently, the cow was too “nosy”, and curiosity probably got the best of her. Thankfully, the farmer was now looking for her…
13. CURIOSITY GOT THE BEST OF HER
This cow might have annoyed a shy porcupine that was minding his own business. When these spikey fellows feel in danger, they will thrust their hindquarters at the enemy… Unfortunately, this cow was on the wrong end of the… porcupine! Dave noticed one more essential detail at #8.
12. A SHARP WEAPON
After lunging at the enemy, the porcupine’s quills stick in the skin of the enemy and detach from the rodent’s back. Probably the inquisitive cow got more than she asked for and the porcupine acted.
Now that Dave realized what was wrong, he also noticed a detail that helped him save the cow’s life…
11. AN IMPORTANT DETAIL
Having a sharp eye as a photographer, Dave knew where to look. He noticed the tag in the cow’s ear, which said her name was Linda. With this information, Dave went to the farmhouse with his video and details on Linda’s injured snout. He found the owner and told him what happened!
10. THE FARMER RAN TO FIND HER
As soon as the farmer saw the quills in the poor cow’s face, he ran to find and isolate her from the herd. He treated her with a local anesthetic to help with the pain. Then, the farmer extracted the porcupine spines, and she was given antibiotics. But that’s not all!
9. MONITORING LINDA
As soon as Linda was treated, she received a big bowl of corn and oats for her trouble. She was going back to her herd, but the farmer kept monitoring her closely. The farmer and Dave rescued Linda on time. The next day, he visited her, and she was peacefully eating grass with her baby calf…
8. A HAPPY COW
Linda was happy and had no sign of infection or more injury on her snout. She was going to recover fast thanks to Dave’s keen eye and fact reaction. But here’s another thing you didn’t know about Dave. This was the second time he helped that farm! What happened the first time?
7. HEAVENLY FIELDS
Dave went to the farm because he knew it was very beautiful. The photographer loved how the lush grass was beautifully spread on the farm, and the cows roamed to get their fill. Dave’s photo sessions turned into rescue missions!
6. USING THE DRONE
Drone technology has many uses. For example, they’re great for rescue missions, scouting for missing persons, or spotting dangers in places difficult to access. Drones are also used for photography and filming.
5. AMAZING PHOTOS
As you can imagine, photographers can catch amazing scenes and animals with these drones – while most of the times it would have been impossible on foot. And this is what Dave was doing during the summer. He loves animals and nature, so he went to fly his drone over the familiar pasture and catch some beautiful shots.
Then, he spotted one more cow in trouble!
4. FLO AND HER CALF
When Dave went to the farm, he found a cow called Flo and her newborn calf that just slid under an electric fence! Without thinking he’d risk his life, Dave pushed the baby back into the pasture towards his mom. And Flo thanked him in the most adorable way!
3. A HEALTHY CALF
Thankfully, the calf was healthy! After Dave notified the farmer and his wife, they all went to check and tag the baby. The calf was later named Sparky! The photographer took his camera and filmed the mom and her calf as they joined the herd. Then, she did this amazing thing…
2. SAVING ANIMALS
Before mingling with the other cows, Flo raised her head and looked at Dave, recognizing him. This rescue mission immediately went viral after he uploaded it on the internet. Everyone was so happy that Dave was there to save the animals!
1. A REWARDING PASSION
As for Dave, he had no idea that his hobby would come with a part-time job as the guardian of the herd. These cows are lucky to have Dave around! If you ever use a drone and spot someone in need of help, be sure to announce the professionals, and you might save a life!
