Can You Tell Which TV Pregnancies Were Real And Which Were Not?

#50. Tiera Skovbye – Riverdale

When Polly Cooper fell pregnant on Riverdale it was an emotional rollercoaster. After having a mental breakdown, she discovers she’s expecting twins. Her parents decide to send her away to live at the Sisters of Quiet Mercy group home.

Fortunately, Polly manages to run away for she is not well received in her new home and reunites with her family. Tiera Skovbye did a great job performing the pregnant Polly, however, this Canadian actress wasn’t really expecting.

#49. Marcia Cross – Desperate Housewives

Cross became pregnant with twins during the filming of Desperate Housewives season 3. Thanks to her own pregnancy, the show’s writers added a little bit of scandal to this soap opera plot. Her character, Bree Van de Kamp, would appear to be pregnant but it’d be all part of a strategy so that she could raise her biological grandson.

It was a perfect fit for this soap opera. A win-win situation. The actress would be able to sport a not-so-fake bump while the reputation of her fictional teenage daughter was being protected. Before turning 45 years old, Cross delivered fraternal twin daughters named Eden and Savannah.

#48. Elizabeth Banks – Scrubs

Dr. Kim Briggs’ pregnancy surprised not only fans but also her fictional boyfriend JD. It was the end of season five and this storyline came out of nowhere! Was Banks pregnant in real life so writers decided to take that road?

Well… No. It was all about adding a dramatic plotline to the show to have JD experience a taste of fatherhood. The weird thing is that JD and Banks’ character Kim didn’t actually sleep together, but still, they managed to make a baby. This really is TV magic!

#47. Holly Marie Combs – Charmed

This pregnancy took the producers by surprise and they had to figure out how to handle Combs’ pregnancy. Their first attempt was trying to hide it as if Piper, her character, wasn’t pregnant, but it did not do the trick. Therefore, the show’s creator came up with a bizarre, Charmed-like idea.

Believe it or not, Piper becomes pregnant with her son, Chris, who apparently travels back from the future to protect his older brother, Wyatt, from the evil demons that are plaguing him. It was a little far-fetched, but these twisted and bizarre plots seem to work in these types of shows.

#46. Shailene Woodley – The Secret Life Of The American Teenager

Woodley’s starring role as Amy Juergens in The Secret Life of an American Teenager made her gain prominence in her acting career. Woodley’s character was a 15-year-old high school student who discovered that she fell pregnant after a band camp fling with the handsome and popular boy Ricky Underwood.

The news was dramatic, emotional, yet not a reflection of real life at all. This teen pregnancy wasn’t real at all. Woodley was faking it all along! That wasn’t the same for her on-screen mother, Molly Ringwald – well, that’s a whole nother story! Keep reading to see what happened with her co-star.

#45. Molly Ringwald – The Secret Life Of The American Teenager

This TV show is basically about unplanned babies and the plot is about a teenager who gets pregnant, but guess what? It’s her TV mom who also gets pregnant, both in real life and in the show. Ringwald plays the sympathetic but overwhelmed Anne Juergens, who has to deal with her husband, mother and her teenage pregnant daughter all at the same time.

In 2009, Molly Ringwald and her husband Panio Gianopoulos announced they were expecting twins. Producers thought that it was a perfect fit for the show so they incorporated it into the storyline. As the actress once said, “My character’s dealing with pregnancy and sort of going through the same thing that I just went through with my daughter in the season prior.”

#44. Mindy Kaling – The Mindy Project

Mindy Kaling’s character on The Mindy Project was used to being around babies. Her character was an obstetrician after all. But, it was a bit of a shock when the on-screen Mindy discovers she was unexpectedly pregnant herself! This was just to add a little bit of drama to the third season.

The lead actress was not pregnant at the time, but Dr. Mindy Lahiri became pregnant by accident with her OBY-GYN co-worker and new boyfriend, Danny Castellano. It was a bit ironic that two OBY-GYNs, of all people, had to deal with an unplanned pregnancy.

#43. Melissa Rauch – The Big Bang Theory

From their awkward first meeting all the way to their marriage, Big Bang Theory fans have witnessed the relationship between Howard Wolowitz and Bernadette Rostenkowski go through its ups and downs. So, it was not a big deal when they announced that they were expecting their first child in season 9 of the show.

Whereas Rostenkowski had a smooth pregnancy in the show, the actress who portrays her had a more tragic fate since she suffered a miscarriage. The actress chose to share this story when she announced her second pregnancy, which fortunately went well.

#42. Gina Rodriguez – Jane The Virgin

The entire show revolves around pregnancy. Rodriguez plays the lead character Jane who becomes pregnant in one of the strangest ways possible: she gets artificially inseminated by mistake. To make things worse, Jane was a virgin herself.

Such a crazy storyline! Most of the first season, Jane is pregnant and she delivers her son, Mateo, in the season finale. Given that the actress wasn’t pregnant in real life, she had to resort to wearing a fake baby bump.

#41. Megan Boon – The Blacklist

Boon plays Elizabeth Keen on the action drama The Blacklist as an FBI Agent, but she didn’t have to hide her pregnancy on the show. Even when she was six months pregnant, she was still on television and it was because her character was also expecting a child. The producers finally decided to hire a stunt double to make the transition easier.

This was one of the cases in which the storyline was changed in order to adjust to reality. They had to “kill off” Boon’s character for a couple of chapters while she was on maternity leave. In April 2016, Boone and Fiancé Dan Estabrook welcomed their beautiful daughter, Caroline Boone Estabrook.

#40. Katherine Heigl – Knocked Up

In this rom-com film, Katherine Heigl plays Alison a career-minded woman who unexpectedly falls pregnant after a one-night stand with Ben, Seth Rogen. While she attempts to prepare everything before the arrival of her child, the baby-daddy seems to show a lack of responsibility.

The actress got to experience becoming a mom, but it was years after filming Knocked Up. She adopted a daughter Naleigh and later a second daughter Adalaide. In 2016, she gave birth to Joshua, her third son.

#39. Jennifer Garner – Alias

The bump that agent Sydney Bristow sported on screen was completely real. In 2005, Garner found out she was expecting her first child with Ben Affleck, but this didn’t become a problem for the show. Producers decided to write it into the storyline.

In the show, after the international spy and fellow agent Michael Vaughn had their baby, she obviously couldn’t keep up with her everyday work routine during the first few months, which is why they had to incorporate a new character to the show. This is why a younger agent began working under Sydney’s tutelage.

#38. Julianne Moore – Nine Months

This 90’s rom-com depicts the story of a long term couple between a child psychiatrist, Hugh Grant, and a ballet teacher, Julianne Moore. Their relationship becomes rocky after Moore tells his boyfriend she is expecting. Hugh Grant’s character feels that he is not prepared to be a dad and he is scared of the effects of fatherhood.

At the end of the movie, he ends up taking responsibility. At the time of shooting the film, Moore wasn’t actually carrying a child. She had her first baby some years later.

#37. Alice Lowe – Prevenge

This British movie marked not only the actress’ directorial debut but also her baby’s debut on the big screen. This comedy slasher film is about a pregnant widow who believes that her unborn baby is causing her to seek revenge for her husband’s death.

The pregnancy-based thriller was told from a woman’s perspective, so it was a win-win situation for the actress for she herself was expecting a child. It was Lowe’s baby girl, Della, with only 10 days old who portrayed Ruth’s newborn child in the film. The baby in #33 also proved to have some enviable acting skills!

#36. Ellen Page – Juno

In 2007, Page took the leading role in this comedy-drama film which tells the story of a high schooler who gets pregnant. First, Juno considers to have an abortion, but then she ends up deciding to give the baby up for adoption.

This teen pregnancy goes through an emotional rollercoaster during the movie, which ends up having a happy ending. The part was very well acted by Ellen Page since she had to fake the whole thing, even talking to her fake baby bump. The actress has not had children on her own. The actress in #35 was actually a pregnant teenager!

#35. Keisha Castle-Hughes – The Nativity Story

The birth of Jesus has been recreated loads of times, both on stage and screen. But it was the unprecedented Keisha Castle-Hughes’ portrayal of Mary that drew a lot of attention from the press. But why? Well, the actress herself was expecting during the shooting.

This actress from New Zealand was 16 years old when the movie was being filmed and she welcomed her daughter Felicity-Amore Hull in 2007. The Nativity Story became the first film to have its world premiere in Vatican City in 2006, and the whole cast attended the event.

#34. Kerri Russell – Waitress

Russell plays a woman trapped in a life from which she dreams of escape, Jenna’s wants to save money from her waitressing job to leave her controlling husband. However, an unwanted pregnancy changes the course of events.

In the movie, Jenna gets unexpected confidence by writing letters to her unborn baby and she falls in love with her charming ob-gyn. Russell wasn’t pregnant herself while she was filming the movie. But, she did welcome her first child the same year Waitress hit screens in 2007.

#33. Naomi Watts – Mother And Child

This drama film revolves around pregnancy, so it was naturally fitted for the actress Naomi Watts, who happened to be pregnant during its filming. Watts portrayed the role of a lawyer who never knew her biological mother. On set, not only was the star able to relate to her character, but her unborn did so as well.

There’s one scene in which Watts’ character goes to a doctor’s appointment and right on cue, his unborn child begins to kick and move. Of course, one would think that kicking was part of the script… but it was 100% real! Tight on the spot, this little fellow revealed his very own acting potential even before being born!

#32. Cynthia Nixon – Sex and the City

It was really a surprise when the career-driven lawyer, Miranda Hobbes, became the first of the group to fall pregnant. Nixon’s character in Sex and the City didn’t have much maternal instinct.

For the actress, playing mom may have come second nature. Nixon had already been pregnant with his first child named Brady before her character did. She went on to deliver one more and her wife Christine Marinoni gave birth to a son, Max Ellington.

#31. Lucille Ball – I Love Lucy

I bet you’ve heard about I Love Lucy before. It’s a classic and one of the first breakthroughs in TV history. And here’s a fun fact: Ball’s pregnancy became one of the first real-time pregnancies depicted on television! In a total of seven episodes, you could see the actress showing her baby bump.

It’s hard to believe that during that time, the word “pregnant” was considered too indecent, so it was never used during the show. It was in the episode titled Lucy Is Enceinte where Lucy, sporting a five-month pregnancy, tries to find the right way to tell Ricky she was expecting a child. Her son Desi Arnaz Jr. was born in January 1953.

#30. Candice Bergen – Murphy Brown

This ‘90s sitcom decided to include a pregnancy into its storyline. Unlike Lucille Ball on I Love Lucy, it wasn’t because the actress became pregnant. Instead, Candice Bergen who played the title character had to pretend as if she was expecting. She was portraying a 40-something businesswoman who was trying to get back to her career.

The story of the show was already special but it became a huge deal when Murphy Brown fell pregnant and decided to raise the baby on her own. This was pushing over the edge back in those days! Many ranted against the show, saying that it was a perversion of traditional family values. Even so, the show gained even more popularity. Before being in the show, the actress had a daughter in 1985.

#29. Cate Blanchett – The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou

This Australian actress signed up to a role in Wes Anderson’s comedy-drama The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. To her surprise, when they started shooting the film in Italy she found out she was expecting her second child. Luckily, this didn’t pose a problem for the producers.

The character she had to portray was a pregnant reporter called Jane Winslett-Richardson, who had to chronicle what happened during the voyage. Even though the movie wasn’t a box office success, it gained a major cult following. In 2004, Blanchett welcomed a baby boy and she named him Roman Robert Upton.

#28. Drew Barrymore – Riding in Cars with Boys

This comedy-drama film is based on a memoir of the same name and covers the experiences of Beverly Donofrio with her early motherhood and her later education. Donofrio went through a rebellious phase after finding out she didn’t get into college.

She falls pregnant during that phase, but despite this rocky start, the young mom becomes a top writer. Donofrio is portrayed by Drew Barrymore, though she wasn’t actually pregnant during the film. It was years later when the actress became a mother of two daughters.

#27. Catherine Zeta-Jones – Traffic

This crime drama film is about illegal drug trading depicted from different perspectives, including users, enforcers, politicians, and traffickers. Catherine Zeta-Jones plays Helena Ayala, the wife of drug lord Carlos Ayala, and her character initially wasn’t supposed to be pregnant.

When Zeta-Jones found out that she was expecting a child, she managed to convince the director to incorporate it into the storyline. The star considered that it’d cause her character to be more vulnerable and, perhaps, even more willing to commit crimes in order to protect her family.

#26. Salma Hayek – Fools Rush In

This rom-com tells the story of two relative strangers who end up turning a one night stand into marriage after she falls pregnant. It was not easy at first for both of them but over the nine months of pregnancy, the couple ends up falling in love.

It was in 1997 when the film hit the theaters and its star Salma Hayek was yet to become a mom. Ten years later, the actress welcomed a little girl named Valentina Paloma with her husband François-Henri Pinault.

#25. Julia Roberts – Ocean’s Twelve

The 2004 action film Ocean’s Twelve was a financial success, and it stars Julia Roberts playing Tess, the wife of gangster Danny Ocean. Luckily, the Pretty Woman star didn’t even have to pretend to be with child, because she was actually pregnant during the shoot!

In fact, she was expecting not one, but two babies! In 2004, she gave birth to the twins, a daughter and a son, named Hazel and Finn. It was in 2007 when Roberts and her husband, cameraman Daniel Moder, welcomed their third son named Henry.

#24. Amy Poehler – Baby Mama

This rom-com introduces us to the world of surrogate pregnancies as Tina Fey decides to turn to a gestational carrier, portrayed by Amy Poehler, when she finds out she can’t have kids on her own nor adopt them. The two of them don’t get along because they don’t see eye to eye.

The actress playing as a surrogate mother had to wear fake paddings to play the role for Poehler wasn’t expecting at the time. Maybe the film triggered her maternal instincts as after the movie topped the box office, she announced that she was pregnant with her first child. Currently, the actress has two sons with her former husband Will Arnett.

#23. Emily Deschanel – Bones

This actress fell pregnant not once, but twice during the comedy-drama TV show Bones. When she learned she was expecting a child, the show writers incorporated the baby bump into the plot. There was only one episode in which she had to wear a fake bump, right after her son Henry was born in real life.

She even told The Hollywood Reporter that “I’ll experience something in an episode, and I’m shocked because it’s exactly what I’m going through.” Later, in 2015, she had her second baby boy in real life, so once again, the scriptwriters made the fictional characters Booth and Bones welcome another baby. Slide to #8 to see which other actress went through two onscreen pregnancies!

#22. Sofia Vergara – Modern Family

Gloria Pritchett has been capturing fans of Modern Family since 2009. This flashy character played by Sofia Vergara is the Latino spiciness of the show with her funny expressions and mispronunciation of English words. In season four of the show, the fictional character discovers that she’s pregnant.

Vergara had to add an extra something beneath her form-fitting outfits: a fake baby bump. The actress had already gone through pregnancy, so she may have used her experience as a part of her role. It was in 1991 when her son Manolo was born.

#21. Maya Rudolph – Grown Ups

Maya Rudolph is not only a talented actress but also a hard-working mother, as she and her partner Paul Thomas Anderson have a total of four children. When she landed a role in the comedy film Grown Ups, Rudolph plays the role of Chris Rock’s pregnant wife, and guess what? She really was pregnant in real-life too!

She sported her baby bump in the film which was first slammed by critics but ended up being one of Adam Sandler’s highest-grossing features. Luckily for her, they managed to shoot the film in just a couple of months, because the production began in June 2009 and her son was born in November.

#20. Natalie Portman – Where the Heart Is

This heart touching movie follows the five years in the life of Novalee Nation, a pregnant 17-year-old who is abandoned in a Walmart store by her boyfriend. She ends up living in the store and eventually, gives birth there too. The lead role of Novalee is played by Natalie Portman.

The Oscar-winning actress had no experience of motherhood back when the movie was being filmed. But Portman’s life has changed since then; she married in 2012 with French choreographer Benjamin Millepied and she is now a mother of two children.

#19. Caterina Scorsone – Private Practice

In the American medical drama TV series Private Practice, the character portrayed by Scorsone, Amelia, goes through a lot of drama. Whereas in real life the actress’s pregnancy was undoubtedly a great source of joy, it wasn’t joyful at all for Amelia. On the show, the father of the child dies before she gives birth.

On top of that, Amelia learns that her unborn child has no brain but still she bravely decides to carry the baby to term, so that she could donate his organs to other sick children. Let’s be honest, the scriptwriters could’ve dialed down the drama, right? Luckily this tragedy happened only during the show and Scorsone welcomed a healthy daughter in 2012.

#18. Anna Gunn – Breaking Bad

Breaking Bad has been regarded as one of the greatest television series of all time. During the first season of the show the fictional couple, Walter White and Skyler, are expecting their second child. The actress herself wasn’t sporting her own baby bump for the part given that she hadn’t long given birth to her youngest daughter, Eila Rose.

What most people don't know is that actress Betsy Brandt, who played Marie Schrader, was the one who was actually pregnant during season 2 of Breaking Bad. Therefore, for authenticity's sake, the scenes centered on Skyler and the close-up shots of Skyler's belly on the show were of Betsy Brandt.Anna Gunn currently has two daughters with Alastair Duncan

#17. Ginnifer Goodwin – Once Upon A Time

This American fairytale drama TV series is quite special given that Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas were a couple both onscreen and in real life. When the actress learned that she had her first baby on the way, the show’s producers took it as an opportunity to make Snow White, her character, a mom.

Then, the Once Upon a Time couple found out they were expecting a child again. So once again, the writers decided for Snow and Charming to have a second baby, adding some new twists to the original storyline. Their children were born in May 2014 and June 2016 and they didn’t have any more after that.

#16. Emilia Clarke – Game of Thrones

In GOT’s season 1, Daenerys Targaryen becomes pregnant with the son of her new husband Khal Drogo. This results in bringing the fictional couple closer together. However, by the end of the season, Dany suffers a tremendous loss to her son as well as her Dothraki husband dying. Later in the show, she becomes the “Mother of Dragons.”

Though Dany’s pregnancy looked very realistic, the actress was never expecting herself. In fact, Clarke has not had children on her own yet, neither she’s raised any mythical creatures.

#15. Hayden Panettiere – Nashville

It was season three of Nashville and Hayden Panettiere learned that she was expecting. This good news made a perfect opportunity for writers to complicate the storyline for her character Juliette Barnes. It caused her some major baby daddy drama since she wasn’t quite sure who the father was!

Don’t you worry, because it all turned out well because the baby Barnes was expecting was indeed her husband’s, Avery Barkley. In real life, at the same time, her fictional character became a mom, Panettiere and her then-fiancé Wladimir Klitschko welcomed their baby girl called Kaya Evdokia.

#14. Bonus! Lauren Lane – The Nanny

However, the one who was actually pregnant was the actress Lauren Lane, who became pregnant during the fifth season. But unlike other shows that managed to incorporate the pregnancy to the show, the producers decided to cover this up by a scripted weight gain, dark loose clothing and they had her hid behind props gigantic flower ornaments in the house and other hilarious props.

Lauren Lane's pregnancy was hidden during half the season, except for one episode where C.C. jokes about Elaine on Seinfeld being pregnant and hiding behind props...right when she is hiding behind props herself!

#14. Fran Drescher – The Nanny

It was inevitable that Max and Fran would end up together. Nanny Fine gets to marry the man she’s been nannying for. But that wasn’t all, the couple quickly moves to the next step: having a child. This seemed to happen all of a sudden, so many thought that the actress was expecting…

Yet it wasn’t a rushed plotline, show-runners felt that it was a natural progression of the story to let Fran Fine have kids of her own. Fran Drescher wasn’t pregnant herself, and to date, has never had any children.

#13. Rachel Bilson – Hart Of Dixie

In the comedy-drama TV show Hart of Dixie, the relationship between Bilson’s character, Zoe, and her boyfriend Wade wasn’t steady. So, when Bilson’s character revealed that she was expecting a baby, the pregnancy was the means of cementing the fictional couple.

Just like her character, Bilson was pregnant in real life too, as in 2014 she had a daughter together with Hayden Christensen. Unfortunately, Hart of Dixie was canceled afterward, which meant that the character’s baby never got to appear on screen after her birth.

#12. Dianna Agron – Glee

Quinn’s character on Glee was one of the most dramatic plots of the show’s first season. The whole teenage pregnancy storyline was quite something. What’s more, Quinn delivers the baby to the tune of Bohemian Rhapsody!

She names the baby Beth and gives her up for adoption. In the making of this season, fake baby bumps were needed since the actress wasn’t pregnant herself while playing former cheerleader Quinn.

#11. Alyson Hannigan – How I Met Your Mother

The famous comedy show decided not to incorporate Hannigan’s first pregnancy, so her baby bump was hidden. But her second pregnancy seemed to be more convenient for the show’s storyline and the scriptwriters decided that Lily and Marshall would have a child of their own, Marvin.

During her first pregnancy, she had to wear oversized clothing and hold large items in front of herself. Still, in her second pregnancy, Hannigan couldn’t get away from some preggo padding because Lily was further along with her pregnancy than she was in real life. Even so, dealing with her second pregnancy on-screen was way simpler this time.

#10. Mia Farrow – Rosemary’s Baby

This psychological supernatural horror film shows the story of a pregnant woman who believes she is carrying a creature out of this world. What is more, she suspects that her neighbors are plotting to take her child for their evil cult. Rosemary couldn’t have imagined that she’s pregnant with the child of Satan.

Such a storyline is enough to put practically anyone off pregnancy! The film’s lead, Mia Farrow, wasn’t part of the exception. The actress is a mother of fourteen children in total: four by means of biological birth and ten by means of adoption

#9. Bethany Joy Lenz – One Tree Hill

One Tree Hill actress Bethany Joy Lenz was genuinely pregnant with her first child when her fictional character Haley underwent her second pregnancy. That season was rough enough for Haley given that she had to deal with depression due to her mother’s death, so the good news brought some joy.

In 2011, Joy Lenz finally gave birth to a daughter, Maria Rose Galeotti. However, a bumpy road was waiting ahead for the actress, because just a few months after her pregnancy, One Tree Hill was canceled.

#8. Lindsay Lohan – Labor Pains

This TV movie tells the story of a secretary, Thea Clayhill, who pretends to be pregnant in a bid to keep her job. Her plan works perfectly, but there’s an interesting turn on events when she becomes pregnant for real after falling in love. She ends up giving birth by the end of the film.

There’s a memorable scene where Lohan’s character wears this bulbous fake baby bump. The actress had to pretend to be pregnant not once, but twice while filming this rom-com. Until now, Lohan has not had any children of her own.

#7. Candice King – The Vampire Diaries

In this hit TV show, there are all sorts of supernatural beings and the show provides the perfect setting to incorporate very intriguing scenarios. Caroline Forbes, a mean-girl-turned-vampire, was portrayed by Candice King, who learned that she was pregnant with her first child with musician husband Joe Fray during the filming of season 7. The show’s producers had to come up with another wild theory to incorporate King’s pregnancy into the show.

In case you didn’t know, vampires can’t get pregnant. So, the unborn twins carried by another character are magically implanted into Caroline given that their real mother had been killed. Yeah, I know, this is as crazy and twisted as it can get. But don’t worry, in real life, King gave birth to just a regular human daughter! For yet another bizarre storyline, you don’t wanna miss #1!

#6. Angela Kinsey – The Office

Kinsey played the cold and judgmental Angela Martin in the sitcom The Office. This fictional pregnancy turned out to be very scandalous. Dwight is the baby’s father, but she gets married to Robert Lipton in-between season seven and eight! Of course, this storyline was added only for dramatic purposes.

However, Kinsey was actually pregnant but in season four. Since it wasn’t a good timing for the show, producers decided to hide it. So, the actress would be placed behind filing cabinets, behind a desk or otherwise hidden in the background. Angela’s fake pregnancy was very much front and center given that Jenna Fisher, our #5, and her character Pam were pregnant at the same time.

#5. Jenna Fischer – The Office

The love interest between Pam and Jim was one of The Office‘s most intriguing plotlines, and they soon became one of the most loved couples in modern TV history. In Season 8, the fictional couple decided to have their second baby, and guess what?

Yes, Fischer didn’t have to wear a prosthetic on set because she herself was expecting her first child to her husband Lee Kirk. Her blossoming baby bump was sported on the comedy coinciding with Fischer’s real-life pregnancy.

#4. Ellen Pompeo – Grey’s Anatomy

Fans went crazy when Derek and Meredith found out that they were expecting. Since doctors told Meredith that she was infertile, the couple decided to go for adoption. But, eventually, Dr. Meredith Grey ended up being a mother of three, two biological children with her late husband Derek and also an adopted daughter with him, Zola.

Actress Ellen Pompeo wasn’t expecting during any of these on-screen pregnancies. She was pregnant during the show’s sixth season, but the timing didn’t match the storyline. So, the show’s producers had to cover Pompeo’s real baby bump up; they didn’t cover up #3 bump!

#3. Sarah Drew – Grey’s Anatomy

In 2014, the Grey’s Anatomy star found out she was pregnant with her second child with her husband Peter Lanfer. It seemed logical for the show’s writers for Drew’s character, April Kepner, to become pregnant to her first child with her husband Dr. Jackson Avery, played Jesse Williams.

In the show, things get tragic when Jackson and April find out that their unborn child is not expected to live beyond a few days due to a brittle bone disorder. Amusingly, 10 hours after giving fake birth on the show, she went into labor for real. The actress said it brought up many emotions when she watched the episode afterward.

#2. Jennifer Aniston – Friends

It was the show’s season 7 finale and we’re all left shocked when we found out that Rachel was expecting Ross’ baby. What is more, Ross was taken by surprise too! Could it be that this all-of-a-sudden pregnancy was a cover-up for a real-life one?

That wasn’t really the case with Jennifer Aniston. The baby bump she sported on-screen was 100% fake. At the end of season 8, Rachel gives birth to baby Emma Geller-Green after an emotional, two-episode long labor. It was #1 who was actually pregnant!

#1. Lisa Kudrow – Friends

It was obvious that one of the most popular television shows ever would have an on-screen pregnancy. We all remember Phoebe’s surrogate pregnancy during the fourth season of the all-time favorite Friends. However, the storyline was actually developed after actress Lisa Kudrow became pregnant herself.

The show’s writers decided to incorporate it into the plot by having the kind-hearted Pheebs carry her brother’s triplets. Since the actress in real life was expecting just one baby, she had to wear extra padding to make it look more real. Kudrow welcomed a son whom she called Julian.
