Pit Bull And Giant Fluffy Rabbit Meet, Then This Happens

A Tough Start

Grace is now two years old, but her start in life doesn’t begin with a happy home. Unfortunately, Grace was used for dogfighting ring, but then she was no longer useful…

The people that had her left her alone and tied her to a tree. Fate has it that someone saw her and took her to the shelter!

Mindy Adopted Grace

There are way too many Pit Bulls in shelters, and many of them end up on euthanasia lists, but thanks to a kind woman, Grace went to a new home.

When Mindy Hayes and her husband visited the local shelter, they both fell in love with her. She adopted Grace and took her home…

Grace And Sadie

It was not long before Grace settled into her life at the new home, where she found a playmate, the Hayes’ other furry member of the family – Sadie.

Grace loved playing with Sadie and her parents, and despite her rough past, she was very sweet. Then, in 2017, the family would soon find out how sweet Grace really was!

A New Fluff!

Back in 2017, the couple decided to bring a new furry pet into their family. It would not be another dog, but a rabbit. And that is not your regular bunny either! It is a Flemish giant rabbit, called Sophie!

Mindy had to carefully introduce the baby bunny last year to her two pups and see their reactions…

Grace Fell In Love With Sophie

Mindy showed Sadie and Grace their new furry sister. At first, she thought it would be a mistake, considering rabbit and dogs don’t usually get along.

Mindy hoped this wouldn’t be the case, so she first showed the bunny to Sadie. She was not interested in the bunny at all, which was at least a good sign, but Grace…

An Instant Connection

Hayes immediately found out that the 2-year-old rescue pit bull fell in love with the little ball of fluff. And Sophie loved the dog back!

How can we tell? Wait until you see them in the photos and what the happy mom has to say about this odd and adorable pair!

The Furry Sisters

“It was an instant connection,” Hayes said in an interview with The Dodo. She explained that right after sniffing one another, “they just blossomed from there.”

Believe it or not, but these two girls are now inseparable, and Mindy shows everyone the bonded rabbit and her pit bull on social media. Their reaction?

Snuggling On The Couch

The furry duo was inseparable. When Sophie hopped around, Grace would be right at her back.

The pup even learned that Sophie loved to be groomed, so she started licking her hair and snuggling up with the rabbit every day! There’s even an adorable video on Mindy’s Facebook page with Grace grooming Sophie.

The Flemish Rabbit

Sophie is not done growing yet! She is still a baby and will get to weigh somewhere up to 20 pounds!

In her spare time, the rabbit loves to spend time with her parents when she’s not cuddling with the adorable Pit Bull.

Sophie Is Always Wet

“I can’t keep them apart,” explained Hayes, saying that “Grace is constantly following Sophie.”

The pooch likes to lay with Sophie on the couch and lick her head. The funniest thing ever is when you see Grace doing this…

Sophie Loves It

The proud mom of three furballs said that “Grace would groom Sophie until she is sopping wet if I let her!”

Rabbits are very social animals, so they’re used to form bonds with humans or other animals in the house.

A Happy Rabbit

Rabbits perceive the act of grooming as an act of affection, so Sophie loves every second of it.

She also sits on the couch with her humans or on their lap, and lick their hands as they pet her: “She comes to me when I call her and she follows us around the house.”

She's So Huge

“She is a very social and happy rabbit!” – said Mindy, also adding that Sophie is only 11 months old, and will soon grow bigger.

For now, if she is all stretched out next to Grace, they almost look the same size! Now that’s a huge bunny!

People Were Shocked!

The two have a special friendship, and the people who know Grace and Sophie are used to seeing them together.

However, people outside the family were shocked to see how great the two are together. And that is because Grace is a pit bull…

Pit Bulls Are Friendly

People think that if Grace is a pit bull, she wouldn’t be friends with such a vulnerable critter, but they’re wrong.

Mindy wanted to show people that this relationship is what shows the sweet and friendly nature of pit bulls!

Tied Up To A Tree

Hayes explained that “Grace had a very rough start to life,” recalling how the pup was found:

“Before she was rescued she had been used for fighting and then was tied up to a tree, left to fend for herself.” She explains that even though she came from a bad past, she is not a bad dog!

She's So Loving

Grace is so graceful! She is sweet, and with the right socialization, she and all pit bulls can learn how to get along with all kinds of animals.

Mindy said that even though she came from a bad place, the fact that she is “loving to everyone, especially to a rabbit, is really spreading awareness to who these dogs really are.”

Grace Is Very Sweet

“They are not bad dogs. She wants to be friends with everyone she meets,” said Mindy.

And even though people are easier to judge that after Grace’s situation she would be aggressive, Mindy realized that she should be more loving to every animal or person, no matter their past.

Mindy Feels Fortunate

The Hayes’ are fortunate not just to have a friendly pooch like Grace, but also a bunny that is so happy to have friends, no matter the species.

Sophie and grace are adorable together and love each other a lot!

An Adorable Furry Pair

These two fluffs are so fortunate to have found each other, and there’s no question that they are happy to be together!

Seeing them cuddling and walking everywhere side by side brings a smile to their parents’ faces every day!
