Carson explains from behind the camera that those are special glasses that “have been engineered … so that when people wear them who are colorblind, you get to see color just like we get to see color.”

Noll is stunned, only managing to say “no kidding.” He then puts the glasses on!

There’s more to the story!

14. COLOR BLINDNESS

Noll Stafford is color blind, so he cannot see certain colors like people with normal vision do. The perfect gift for him was to give him the ability to see the world how it really is. His family heard about the special glasses and pitched in to buy him a pair…

13. ENCHROMA GLASSES

EnChroma has developed special lens that filter and separate muddled colors in a technique called chromatic contrast enhancement. The company sends all their glasses with a bunch of colored balloons so that the wearer can see how differently colored they are.

The grandpa leans forward and tears up, saying how bright the colors are!

12. COLOR FOR THE FIRST TIME

Noll cannot contain his emotions as he sees color for the first time in his life. He gasps looking around and breaks down into tears:

“It’s so clear I can’t believe it,” he says. The, his son asks him to look at his cap. You won’t believe what his father says!

10. A LANDSCAPER

Believe it or not, but Noll is actually a landscaper, says ABC News in an article on this heartwarming moment. So the man will be able to see the colorful flowers and plants for the first time, even though he has been working with them for years!

This video has made everyone cry after being shared by Carson Stafford on YouTube in December 2016. It just went viral in the last weeks, and has sent the Internet into many kinds of emotions:

“It’s 6 AM, I just woke up and saw this video … now I’m crying …” wrote someone on YouTube.

8. TAKING FOR GRANTED

What made everyone broke in tears was that this man has just received an ability many of us take for granted. “This is my favorite video so far. His reaction is priceless,” added another person on YouTube.

7. COLORBLINDNESS WORLDWIDE

spotlightstories.co

It makes us wonder how many people in the world suffer from colorblindness?

The National Eye Institute reports that 8% men and 0.5% women that have Northern European ancestry can suffer from red-green color blindness, adding the following explanation…

6. RED OR GREEN?

sciencealert.com

“Men are much more likely to be colorblind than women because the genes responsible for the most common, inherited color blindness are on the X chromosome.”

A majority of people that have color blindness cannot differentiate between red and green.

5. THE EYE’S RODS AND CONES

spotlightstories.co

There are actually four kinds of color blindness: protanopia, dueteranopia, tritanopia, and achromatopsia. Almost one in 20 people in the US and UK suffer from color blindness, making life seem dull. And that’s only because of one of the light-sensitive cells in the eye’s retina…

4. ASSISTIVE OPTICAL DEVICE

The two light-sensitive cells in the eye’s retina – rods and cones help use process images. Rods work in low light condition and cones in daylight, making them responsible for color. This is what the people from EnChroma said about how they created the glasses – #2.

3. TRY THE GLASSES

The company explains that colorblindness cannot be cured with these glasses and that they are an “assistive optical device.” A normal person that tries these glasses can see colors in the red-green spectrum look very vivid. EnChroma glasses first started as a pair of glasses for doctors that performed laser surgery.

2. GLASSES FOR DOCTORS

The glasses had to protect the eyes and enhance colors like the ones of the blood vessels. Then, the co-founder Don McPherson took the glasses to an Ultimate Frisbee game where his colorblind friend tried them on! He saw the orange cones in the field and was so happy!

1. SCIENCE IS SO GREAT

dailymail.co.uk

McPherson improved the efficiency of the glasses and created the ones that now bring color back to people’s lives!

Thanks to technology, people that have colorblindness will see colors again! Science is so great when it makes everyone’s lives better! We’re glad that this man and many other people can now enjoy the world with new eyes!
