How to Make and Use a Wedding Calendar

Your calendar will tell you at a glance where you are in the process. Ideally the wedding plan takes about twelve months but we can make it work with just a few. You will be a lot more rushed but you will be organized, thanks to your wedding calendar. If you are getting married in a few months, you probably have everything you want in your head already.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging Instructions

  1. Step 1 Date and time of the wedding ceremony

    Here are some things that should be put on the wedding calendar first. Check each off when done.

    • Date and time of the wedding
    • Wedding and reception sites reserved
    • Wedding party
    • Colors
    • Start the guest list
    • Who will marry you?
    • Plan the reception
    • Get the dress
    • Wedding theme
    • Wedding party attire.
    • What is the budget
    • Meet with each others parents

  2. Step 2 Wedding reception

    Four months prior to the big day:

    • Completed guest list
    • Invitations, thank you notes and personalized items ordered
    • Reception finalized
    • Select music
    • Select flowers
    • Select photographer
    • Order the Cake
    • Select decorations
    • Enlist volunteers to help with the reception, flowers, music, photos, decorations or anything else.

  3. Step 3

    Two months prior to the wedding:

    • Buy the guest book, garter, ring pillow, and flowers baskets
    • Rent the items you need for the wedding like the candelabra, punch bowl, table clothes etc.
    • Decide what you must have done in the ceremony or at the reception, like first dance, father daughter and mother son dance.

  4. Step 4 Your Wedding Gown

    Three months prior to the wedding:

    • Reserve the men’s wedding attire
    • Start addressing invitations
    • Write your vows

  5. Step 5 Plan a Wedding Rehearsal Dinner

    One month prior to the wedding:

    • Get the marriage license
    • Wedding announcements to the newspapers
    • Mail the invitations
    • Dress fitting
    • Set a date for the rehearsal dinner
    • Set a date for the bridesmaids’ luncheon
    • Make sure out of town guests are accommodated
    • Final meeting with the florist, caterer, musicians or dj, and photographer

  6. Step 6

    Three weeks prior to the wedding:

    • All men fitted for tux’s
    • Rehearsal details
    • transportation for the wedding party to get to the wedding venue and reception hall

  7. Step 7 Wedding Florist

    Two weeks prior to the wedding:

    • Tell caterer how many guests
    • Pack for the honey moon
    • Make out seating cards
    • Have someone who can take your gifts for you

    One week prior to the wedding
    • Make sure everyone know times and places
    • Final dress fitting
    • Confirm rehearsal dinner with the person performing the ceremony
    • Get all supplies packed and ready to go
