Are Wholesale Membership Clubs Worth It?

There are some real pros to shopping these clubs.

It really depends on what kinds of things you buy there.

The first thing you need to do is to look around. It really helps to have an idea of what you would pay in a regular grocery store so you can compare prices

For a regular membership you will pay $50 for one year. If you want the premium or business membership you will pay $100.

Each wholesale warehouse sells its own type of merchandise. So, if you go to Sam’s Club and find huge cans of Nesquik it doesn’t mean that they will have that at Costco.

I do shop at Costco and I can give you my take on it. You can save on meat, dairy, and some baking supplies there. For me and my family, those things alone are worth the cost of membership. I won’t quote prices since I don’t know if they are set the same across the United States. But to give you an example of how much you can save: I can save $1 for every gallon of milk I buy and I have bought a gallon jar of mayonaise for the price of what two quarts would cost me at the grocery store.

There are many other things are are sold at these stores and there are perks that comes with having a membership.

So, while I highly reccommend these types of stores, there are some things to think about before you get a membership.

Everything is sold in bulk. So the individual prices may be low. But if you don’t have the room to store 8 cans of black olives, maybe you should rethink buying that. That and not everyone can afford to buy that much at one time. Plus, if something is going to sit in the refridgerater and go bad before you can use it all it is just a waste.

The whole point of this is to tell you that you can save some serious money by getting a membership. But you do have to do your homework. Depending on your situation, it may be one of the best things you ever did.
