Day two of the NFL Draft proved to be the day that made seven Gamecock players dreams come true.

Tight End Jared Cook was the first Gamecock selected. The 6’5” 246 pounder was picked in Round 3 by the Tennessee Titans. The 89th pick overall. Wide Receiver Kenny McKinley was picked in Round 5 by the Denver Broncos. 141st pick overall. Linebacker Jasper Brinkley went in Round 5 to the Minnesota Vikings. 150th pick overall. Offensive Tackle Jamon Meredith was also a Round 5 pick going to the Green Bay Packers. He was the 162nd pick overall. It was thought Meredith would go in the 2nd or 3rd Round however that was not the case.

The last three players were taken in the 7th Round. Corner Back Captian Munnerlyn was the 216th pick by the Carolina Panthers. A surprise for some Gamecock fans was Stoney Woodson. He was the 238th pick by the Kansas City Chiefs. And last but not least “Mr. Irrelevant” went to our very own Kicker Ryan Succop. He was the 256th pick which of course is the last pick of the draft.

I would like to send out a special Congratulations to Jamon Meredith. I’ve known him since we were kids. We all knew he would make something of himself on the football field. So good luck buddy! Don’t forget us when your up there at Green Bay. I’ve still got my cheese head from many years ago and I’ll be routing for you.

Good luck to all of my fellow Gamecocks. I wish you much success in the NFL.
