The same alien symbiote responsible for transforming Eddie Brock into Venom finds its way to a deranged psychopathic killer known as Cletus Kasady, turning him into the evil Carnage whom then began his havoc-spree throughout New York City. He was captured and jailed at an insane asylum from which he soon escaped and, in the process, freed other superhumaninmates, forming a gang of murderers to continue his murderous trail throughout the city.
It all looks like a comic book which is just fine for this sort of game, even if the images are a bit choppy at times.
They’re very, very easy to get used to. All you have to do is punch/kick, run, jump, climb up walls, sides of buildings, and shoot your webs, etc.
You play as Spider-Man or Venom and plow your way through this beat ’em up style classic, doing insane combos and special, and you’ll be doing this for nearly thirty levels, this is an extremely long yet action-packed video game. You will venture through places like San Francisco, the Statue of Liberty, Prospect Park, and more. You will encountercameos by Captain America, Deathlok, Firestar, and Cloak & Dagger whom will all aid you whenever they are summoned.
There’s so much that meets and pleases the eye while playing this video game. It’s much like a comic-book/superhero version of “Streets of Rage” and the cast of Marvel characters here is huge. “Maximum Carnage” is wildly entertaining and enthralling. The only problem with this game is that there are practically no cheat codes to be found – You can’t skip levels or anything. Mind you, this is a very difficult game to beat and there are a lot of levels with many things going on it, you will be tackling four-five and sometimes six-eight bad guys at a time here, so you will have to do a lot of juggling and delegating between kicks, combos, punches, etc. Regardless though, difficult or not, “Spider-Man & Venom: Maximum Carnage” is one of the best superhero/comic book video games that you’ll ever come across.
