Tip 1 : Place torches under falling gravel or sand.
You can break the sand or gravel by holding a torch on your hand and aim it to the bottom level of the block. Place the torch quickly as the sand block breaks away.

Torches can carry any amount of weight and it will allow you to create a sandstone-free pyramid and other fun designs
Tip 3 : Stack signs on top of each other.
For awesome detailing of your builds, you can stack up signs of top of each other and line them up. Use the grids provided by signs and treat them as though any other block in Minecraft.
Tip 4 : Redstone travels through half-slabs.
If you want to hide your redstone effective, use them through half-slabs. Redstone passes through half-slabs and it does not require to be connected to the front.
Tip 5 : Use pressure plates for liquids.
If you need to hold lava and water to keep them at bay, use pressure plates. These things hold both lava and water without spilling them over.
Tip 6 : Stop water and lava.
Signs and ladders have uses against lava and water. Place them according to stop lava and water flow and greatly used for mob spawners and secret underwater rooms.
Tip 7 : Ice vs. soul sand.
Soul sand can slow you down but using ice is far more effective.
Tip 8 : The smallest block.
The game registers the soul sand as the smallest block than any other in Minecraft. Using both ice and soul sand can create ingenious and awesome traps.
Tip 9 : The survival mode.
If you are in survival mode, use swords to break melons and cacti quickly. Use axes to break pumpkins instead of swords.
Tip 10 : Fuel up.
Furnace can be fuelled by almost any item made of wood such as saplings, jukeboxes, bookshelves, fences, trapdoors and chests.
