Cardiac Arrest is different from heart attack,a heart attack occurs when part of the heart blood supply is reduced or blocked,whereas in cardiac arrest the complete heart stops working all of a sudden.

Why do laypersons needs to learn about cardiac arrest and its managemnet

  1. whenerver a person experience cardiac arrest ,he/she became unresponsive(unconscious)
  2. will have no pulse
  3. will not be breating

there is a very crucial time of less then 5 min to revive the victim before irreversible brain damage occure.so its important for every responsible citizen to learn about cardiac arrest and its management.

C- Compression

A- Airway

B-Breathing

STEP 1

COMPRRESION  means pressing the heart which is located directly under the sternum at a rate of 100 beats /min,but before commencing CPR you must make sure that the person is actully unconcsios and not sleeping.

you must  provide 30 uninturrped comprresions to the victim in the center of the chest,using heal of your hand

STEP 2

As shown in the picture the next step is opening of the airway, usually when the person become unconscios the tounge falls backs in the mouth making big obstuction in the airway passage due to which a person can not breath.

this technique is known as Head-Tilt -Chin -Lift method(self Explanotery)

STEP 3

breating is the last and final step of the procedure

  1. To provide mouth to mouth breathing you need to take care of following things
  2. Open the aiway by using head -tilt- chin – lift method
  3. Pinch the nose of victim (in case of adult only)
  4. Make seal with your mouth and the mouth of victim
  5. Now blow for full 1 second
  6. And make sure the chest of the victim should rise with each blow
  7. you should provide 2 breaths at one time.

its a device used when heart stops beating all of a sudden beacause of irregular/verry fast heart rate othervise known as ventricular tachycardia.

the device is availabe in Amulance /hospital and  few developed  countries have made them available in public places also like airport ,railway station etc.
