Repair 101: How to Determine If Your Unit is in Need of Service

One of the most pertinent question that the owners of the air conditioning units should know the answer of is that when and how to know that their unit is demanding a service? This is quite a tricky question which though not a very difficult one is indeed immensely important. Let us discuss the factors which will unmistakably tell you that it is time for you to service your air conditioning unit.

The modern air conditioning units are extremely energy efficient. They are designed in such a way that even if you run them for a significant amount of time, they will have hardly any effect on your power bills. This is because, these units consume minimum amount of electricity. However, this striking energy efficiency may at times reduce over time shooting the energy bills up. If you suddenly find that the electricity consumption of your household has suddenly taken an upward ride and if this continues for month after month, then there is something wrong with the unit. It must have suddenly lost its energy efficiency and needs immediate servicing.

The quality of the indoor air will unmistakably tell you that it is time for you to have the unit serviced. You will find that the quality of the indoor air has suddenly deteriorated. If this continues for quite a period, consult a technician. Your machine may need to be serviced thoroughly. Also, make sure that the Freon is not leaking out. Inspect your unit regularly and if you find that the coolant is leaking out, you need to immediately draw the attention of your service man.
