Gamecocks take on Clemson in final match-up of the year

The Gamecocks will host the Clemson Tigers for the last time this year in Columbia. The Gamecocks lead the series 2-1 this year.

The game is at 7 p.m. at Carolina Stadium in Columbia, SC. The game will be broadcast on the Gamecock Radio Network.  It will also be available on Gametracker.

Gamecocks shut down by Clemson

The Gamecocks were defeated by rival Clemson 12-2. Clemson out-hit the Gamecocks 11 to 6. The two teams split the series 2-2. This marks the last season the two teams will meet four times. Next year they will play a three-game series with a game in Columbia, at Clemson, and one at a neutral site.

Adam Westmoreland suffers the loss. However, he did retire the first 15 batters of the night. Seven pitchers were on the mound for the Gamecocks.

The Gamecocks broke the shutout with a stand-up double from DeAngelo Mack. He now has 45 runs batted in on the year. The Gamecocks were unable to produce a rally and went down with a whimper.

Series awards were given out after the game. Clemson’s Kyle Parker received the Bob Bradley Award, and the Tom Price Award MVP was given to DeAngelo Mack. Mack was also the Terminex Player of the Game on the Gamecock Radio Network.

The Gamecocks (27-15) will head to Florida this weekend to take on the Gators (28-14).
