Whit Merrifield hit his first career grand slam, the third grand slam for the Gamecocks this year. The Gamecocks had 16 hits on the night. Ebert, Enders, Haney, and Mack tallied two hits apiece. Ebert also hit a two-run homer, his 14th of the season.

The Spartans added a three-spot in the sixth inning. Carolina added four more runs on the night to secure the win.

South Carolina pitcher Jay Brown recorded the win. He pitched a career high 6.2 innings. He is now 3-0 on the season. Michael Roth relieved Brown and Jordan Propst closed for the Gamecocks.

The Gamecocks will take on the Spartans again at Carolina Stadium in Columbia, SC on May 12th. You can purchase your tickets online or in person at the Colonial Life Arena.

*I attended this game. USC Upstate has a nice baseball facility however seating is limited. Overflow sits on the surrounding grass area. If you are in the grass area on the first base side your view is obstructed in some areas by the dug out. Overall it was a good experience and I would attend a game there again.*
