It is 365 turns from Chur to Arosa by car.  Once  a town where injured soldiers from World War II were sent for recovery, Arosa turned into a glamorous resort town in the 50s.  Now it is a ski resort where families love to come. Nevertheless, there are many singles, young and old, skiers and nonskiers coming here from all over the world.  It is Switzerland’s ski resort with the cleanest air and the cleanest and best-tasting drinking water.

The Arosa ski resort cannot be compared to Chamonix.  Nevertheless it has some of the best snow and the shortest lift lines.  There is terrain for every ability level.  You can even hire a guide and join a ski tour.  A great place for a family vacation.  Kids love it here because of the terrain park, and it is easy to get around and hard to get lost.

There are many different alpine huts located throughout the resort.  The most visited one is the Camenna Hut where you can have lunch, enjoy some typical Swiss drinks while rocking to some live music and relaxing in one of the oversized alpine lawn chairs.

There are a few sledding paths around that will guarantee fun and laughter.  Take the local Arosa bus up to Prätschli or the cable car up to the middle section of the Weisshorn and enjoy adventurous rides down designated paths.  Or sled down into the next town and ride the Arosa Train back up.  There are also two outdoor ice rinks and an ice arena with regular hockey games where you can support and cheer on the Arosa Hockey Team.  The Cross Country Skier won’t be dissappointed with the possibilities and the magnificent views.

The Arosa Ski Resort and town offer excellent dining opportunities with international cuisine, night-time entertainment at the beautiful Eden Bar with live music.  Early December you can even enjoy a comedy festival.  In January/February there is traditional horse racing on the frozen lake.

There is just something magical about this town which is hard to describe in words.  You have to experience it for yourself – feel the energy – breathe in the good mountain air – enjoy the magnificent views while doing your favorite mountain activity.
