Abortion, a sin
Abortion is definitely wrong. Abortion is taking the life of a human being, because the Bible shows that life begins at conception. God forms us when we are still in the womb of our mother (“You created every part of my body thou me together in my mother’s womb.” Psalm 139.13). The prophet Jeremiah and the apostle Paul was called by God before they were born (“Before his birth, when you were still in the womb of his mother, I chose and set apart for you to be a prophet to the nations.” Jer. 1:5; “But God in his grace chose me even before I was born and called me to serve him.” Gal 1:15). John the Baptist leapt in his mother’s womb when the voice of Mary, the mother of the Lord was heard (“When I heard you greet me, the child was happy and moved into my belly.” Luke 1:44). Obviously, the children in the womb have a spiritual identity.
From the moment of conception, there is a development progress until we reach adulthood. God condemned the Israelites who were offering their children to the pagan god Molech. Such children were burned in the flames of sacrifice (“If an Israelite or an alien who lives among the people of Israel separate one of his sons to serve the god Molech, he should be stoned to death by the people.” Leviticus 20.2), offered a god of sensuality and convenience. The same is occurring today, and acting this way, we are saying that human beings have no value. This is a terrible mark on our society.
The Bible is not more specific on the abortion issue, because such a practice would have been unthinkable to the people of God. For example, when Israel was in Egypt, a cruel Pharaoh forced the Israelites to kill their newborn babies. In the Bible it is seen as the most cruel oppression (“The king of Egypt gave Shiphrah and Puah, the midwives who were Israeli women, the following order:-When you are helping the Israelite women in their births, do the following : being born a boy, kill him, but being born a girl, let live. But the midwives feared God and did what the king of Egypt had sent. Instead, let the boys live. Then the king sent call the midwives and asked them, Why are you doing this? Why are they letting the boys live? They answered, is that Israeli women are not like Egyptian women. They give birth easily, and children born before the midwife arrives. the midwives feared God, and so it was good for them and made sure they had their own families. And the people of Israel grew and became strong. Then the king commanded all the following his people: Throw-in the Nile all Israeli children who are born, but let every girl live. “Ex 1.15-22). The idea of killing their own children would have been anathema to the Hebrews. Throughout the Old Testament, women were eager to have children. The children were considered a gift from God. Women prayed not to be sterile. How could a woman just turn against their own children to destroy them? Abortion is not only unthinkable, but also is the worst atrocities of the heathen.
