Design

Attributing to its 9.5 pounds heavy and 2 inches thick structure, users are likely to keep the Asus on a desk and work. Thanks to the attractive sleek design and matte finish it makes up for a heavy look. The hinge-forward screen concealing its huge vent also makes the laptop appear light from the open position.

The interior consists of just the keyboard and track pad along with some indicators for Wi-Fi, power mode and so on. For ease of access, there are volume control keys above the keyboard. The huge keyboard tray gives you ample space to rest your palm.

Screen and Display

The G75VW-AS71 has a large 17.3 inch screen that offers you a high 1920 X 1080 pixel resolution. That makes it perfect for a rich gaming experience and viewing movies in high definition. The screen is antiglare and comes with a matte finish instead of the usual glossy one.

Audio and Graphics

Stereo speakers are installed above the keyboard with subwoofer. They may not be rich in sound as premium speakers but are booming enough for indulgent gamers.

Graphics option is variable with every configuration. The updated Nvidia GeForce GTX 660M GPU allows you to unleash your gaming skills.

CPU, RAM and Storage

Under the belly, the Asus is loaded with a quad-core third generation Core i7-3610M processor along with a 750GB, 7,200rpm hard drive. The configurations vary with 12 to 16 GB RAM, faster SSD drives, an enhanced 1.5 TB hard disk and a Core i7-3720 processor.

Connectivity

The Asus G75VW-AS71 comes loaded with four USB 3.0 ports, 3-in-1 (SD/HC/MMC) card reader, HDMI ports and VGA and Thunderbolt, for high speed data transfer. For networking, you get Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11 B/G/N Wi-Fi and Ethernet. There is an optical drive that supports Blu-ray.

Made for gaming, the Asus G75VW-AS71 is a laptop with new age processor and high-end configurations. Users may not call it portable due to its large proportions, both in terms of size and weight. The price you pay may also not be justified. But, for hardcore gamers who snub portability and are willing to shell out a lump sum, this can be a prized possession.
