Smelling Like Oranges!

We all are looking for ways to clean our house and leave it smelling great.

Well, I have some tips for you using things you most likely already have in your house.

Baking soda has many great uses.

You can use it to freshen your refridgerater, the carpet or the litter box.

You can also use it to make a soft scrub to clean your bathtub and sinks. Sprinkle some of it in the tub and squeeze out a little dish soap over it. Wet a cloth and scrub the tub. It works great at getting any residues left out of the tub or sink.

Another good idea is getting rid of hard water deposits. Put some baking soda in the container you are wanting to clean. To that, add vinegar or lemon juice. Some people also use a dash of salt but that is optional. The mixture will fizz and do all the work for you. Leave for about thirty minutes. Maybe longer, if it is tough to get off. Than, just wipe out and clean as usual. It also may help to add ice to the mixture and swish that in the container before dumping out.

Baking soda in combination with vinegar and boiling water makes an effective drainer freshener and opener. Dump one cup baking soda down the drain followed by one cup vinegar and than cover. After the fizzing stops, pour boiling water down the drain.

To clean your toilet use four tablespoons baking soda plus one cup vinegar.

For an air freshener spray add one teaspoon baking soda and one teaspoon lemon juice to two cups hot water. Put in a spray bottle and freshener away!

Another great way to freshen your house is by baking orange peels at 350 fegrees F for ten minutes. Or you can place a sliced orange, grapefruit, or lemon in a pan of water and boil gently for an hour.

For furniture polish mix 2/3 cup olive oil and 1/3 cup lemon juice.

These methods are not only good frugal cleaning ideas. They are also very environmentally friendly.

Happy cleaning!
