How to Become a WorldTeach Volunteer and Contribute to International Education

  • Most programs have a rolling admissions process and it is always best to apply early for the best chance of acceptance. To learn more and apply online, go to www.worldteach.org
  • WorldTeach offers year-long, semester-long and summer-long programs where volunteers teach English language, math, science, computer skills or HIV/AIDS awareness. You can choose which program most interests you and choose the country where you would like to volunteer.
  • WorldTeach programs are open to native speakers of English, however you do not have to be a US citizen. All volunteers must be at least 18 years old. There is no requirement to have previous teaching experience or knowledge of a foreign language. Once you are accepted to the program, WorldTeach organization will provide teaching and language training.
  • Year-long program requirements: you must have a bachelor’s degree from US or your country’s equivalent. You can apply for year-long program while you are still in your final year of college, however you are required to earn bachelor’s degree and receive diploma before your volunteer program starts. A WorldTeach application must be completed and academic transcripts with two references (either professional or academic) must be provided. You will be required to have an interview with a member of the WorldTeach staff.
  • Semester-long program requirements: a WorldTeach application must be completed and academic transcripts with two references (either professional or academic) must be provided. You will be required to have an interview with a member of the WorldTeach staff.
  • Summer-long program requirements: you can apply even if you don’t have a bachelor’s degree. A WorldTeach application must be completed online and two references (either professional or academic) must be provided. Summer program applicants are not required to have an interview with a member of the WorldTeach staff.
  • Once you are accepted to the program, WorldTeach organization makes arrangements for your teaching placement, in-country training, 24-hour emergency support, work visa, international travel, housing with room and board, and international health insurance.
