As popularity goes, traffic wardens have never been on top of the list. They have a notorious reputation for waiting in the shadows until somebody parks on double yellow lines and then hitting them with an outrageous fine. Unfortunately a recent news suggests that this is not about to change any time soon.

A recent article reported how motorists in the Manchester area were given parking fines after their cars were lifted up, double yellows were painted underneath the vehicles and then traffic wardens slapped parking fines on the windscreens of the Mini Prestoncar. The council condemned the actions of the traffic wardens and have agreed to cancel all fines issued due to new road regulations. This is not the first time the Manchester city council has come under fire due to enforcement of new parking regulations. Just a few months ago residents and workers in the Castlefield area of the city were victims of the same type of fines. New parking regulations were issued but people were not notified. Many people had their cars towed away in the bid to enforce the regulations and had to pay up to £200 to recover their vehicles.This is not the first time the Manchester city council has come under fire due to enforcement of new parking regulations. Finally a gentleman was recently given a parking fine after falling asleep for six minutes in his vehicle. The traffic warden claimed she was not allowed to wake the man to tell him that he was in a no parking zone!
