     The simple fact is that the better you are at managing your time, the more you will get done in a day. People who develop good habits feel better about themselves both while they are at work and while they are at home. If you want to acquire better time management skills, the following tips will be useful.

     You will get more done every day if you start out with the tasks that are most urgent. Then you won’t have them hanging over your head all day long. Getting the most important things out of the way first also helps to ensure that you have enough time to work on them. You don’t want to find out late in the day that you should have started a critical task earlier, and now you aren’t able to give it your best effort because you have to hurry. In other words, you have to learn to prioritize the various activities on your schedule. Make a list of activities in order of their importance, and work on it top to bottom.

    Have a schedule for your month, week and day. It is important that you schedule in breaks, time to return emails and conference times. The more structured your schedule is the better you will be at getting into good time management habits. You will see how a structured schedule will make you more able to train yourself to be productive during your productive times on your schedule. It does take diligence on your part. Follow this regimine for a few weeks and you are likely to find that it has become second nature.

    It is important not to forget to plan for breaks and relaxation times. Noone can withstand a full throttle day without wearing down. Staying on top of your game is best handled with a fresh mind and relaxed body which is why you need scheduled breaks or down times every day. More importantly, it has been proven that the brain performs better right after returning from a break period. So make time for break time in your busy schedule at least a few times each day. You need it, your mind needs it, this is definately your time. Your emotions certainly need it. Don’t let anybody tell you otherwise.

    Management skills offer you many options. You can get more organized and eventually on task no matter what situation you are beginning with. All you have left to do now is begin making some new habits, good habits. In no time at all, you won’t have to worry about losing a whole day to procrastination anymore!
