Bed bugs are parasitic insects that prefer to feed on human blood. A number of adverse health effects may occur due to bed bug bites, including skin rashes, psychological effects, and allergic symptoms. Diagnosis involves both finding bed bugs and the occurrence of compatible symptoms. A bed bug pierces the skin of its host with what is called a stylet fascicle. Feeding by sucking for about three to five minutes or more, the bug then withdraws the stylet bundle from the feeding position and retracts it back into the labial groove, folds the entire unit back under the head, and returns to its hiding place. It takes between five to ten minutes for a bed bug to become completely engorged with blood. Although bed bugs can live for a year without feeding, they normally try to feed every five to ten days. In cold weather, bed bugs can live for about a year; at temperatures more conducive to activity and feeding, about 5 months. One Bed bug lays upto 300 eggs. Thats why the number of bed bugs increases in the house even after we kill.
Bed bugs can cause a number of health effects including skin rashes, psychological effects and allergic symptoms. They are able to be infected by at least 28 human pathogens, but no study has clearly found that the insect is able to transmit the pathogen to a human being.
Dwellings can become infested with bed bugs in a variety of ways, such as:
Bugs and eggs inadvertently brought in from other infested dwellings by visiting pets,or a visiting person’s clothing or luggage.
Infested items (such as furniture, clothing or backpacks) brought in.
Nearby dwellings or infested items, if there are easy routes that the bugs may travel (through duct work or false ceilings).
Wild animals (such as bats or birds) that may also harbor bed bugs or related species such as the bat bug.
People or pets visiting an infested areas (apartment, subway, movie theater, or hotel) and carrying the bugs to another area on their clothing, luggage, or body.
METHOD TO ERADICATE BED BUGS
You might find it difficult sometimes to get rid of them. But if you think calmly and understand them you may find a way. Thats how I did. Here are some details given which can help you out:
Bed bugs hide and live inside the outer layer of the walls. If you have cracks in the wall or the paint had broken they might live inside that. All you have to do is open up the layer slowly, then take piece of cloth with some kerosene on it and kill and wipe them out. Remember they run faster. Second important thing, you may think they have died and leave the wall. If you look deeply you may find dot-like tiny black spots on the wall. Dont ignore them, they are hundreds of tiny little eggs which later becomes a bug. You have to get rid of it. Dont let a single spot on your wall. This is how you can eradicate bed bugs from the wall.
There other methods like pest control but they arent that successful. You can use this method when the bed bugs are the start of their colonization and when they are little in numbers. You they are available in large number, you can use this method if you have lots of time or else I would suggest to paint the house, oil paint. And other thing, get rid of old wooden things in your house which can bring them back in the house.
Bed bugs live inside cushions and bedsheets. To get rid them, you have to wash all the cushions and bedsheets in hot steaming water. Once in a week will decrease them and clean it. Apply petroleum jelly on your hands and face to avoid bites.
