Winter is inevitably upon us. Have you established the proper skin care regiment for it? Skin tends to get pretty dry during the winter, due to the drop in temperature and the decrease of moisture in the air. It is important to take the right steps to prevent premature wrinkles. This means that you should be including toners and moisturizers in your routine! It doesn’t matter if you are a mother of four working a full-time job or a busy social-lite, the following are skin care tips that anyone can follow to keep up after their skin.
The first step to washing your face actually has nothing to do with your face directly. It has to do with your hair! Remember to pull your hair back, yes including bangs, and tie it up. This way, you will be able to wash around the hair line of your face. That is where most of the dirt and oil gets trapped. This is also the reason why many acne and blackheads develop around the hair line. If you don’t have one of those bands to pull your hair back, a shower cap works just fine.
Dryness of the skin is the primary cause for the development of wrinkles. Importantly, the temperature of the water you wash your face may play a large role in the healthiness of your skin. Using water that is too hot will dry out your skin because the hot water will rinse away your natural oil. It’s best to use lukewarm water to wash your face, but end the process with cold water. The coldness of the water will help close the pores. After washing your face, dry with a clean towel! Using a dirty towel is like applying bacteria right back onto your face. Never, never, ever rub your face with the towel when drying. That is unnecessary. It will only damage your skin. If you needed to exfoliate, do so the correct way!
The next step would be to apply toner. Toners usually come in a bottle and can vary by consistency. Read the label and it will let you know the features of the toner. Some will have features such as added moisturizers for dry skin, while others may be oil-free for oily skin. They come in a fair range of prices too. Keep in mind that more expensive does NOT necessarily mean better. It’s best to read up, determine the type of toner you need, and then try a few for yourself because everyone’s skin types are slightly different. Tones are typically applied with a cotton ball or pad. Just dab a bit onto the pad or ball and apply onto your face. It is important to avoid sensitive areas such as eye and lip areas.
After the application of toner, it would be wise to apply moisturizers, because as mentioned before -dryness leads to wrinkles. Also, remember to apply sunscreen. Just because it is winter it does not mean that the sun rays will stop cold! If you live in snowy areas, the rays are even stronger because it will reflect off the snow.
It is best to establish a stable and realistic skin care regiments for the sake of maintain skin health and also preventing premature wrinkles! Let’s all take care of our skin and welcome the winter!
