Zits always seem to pop out from nowhere. You can go to bed and wake up in the morning with a breakout. The sad part is that they also seem to hang around longer than is welcome, if they ever were in the first place. Due to the fact that acne breakouts suddenly disrupt your plans – many people have had to change their schedule because of those annoying pimples, the first thing that comes to mind is finding ways to clear acne fast.

There are many products claiming to help people clear acne scars within a short period. Some claim to do this even within a week! But are there products which can help you clear acne blemishes within record time? And if so, which products are these?

The process of clearing acne needs to take into account different factors. There are steps to take in order to get rid of acne. Shortcuts only help to clear the surface problem and not the root cause. As a result, you might find that there is a recurrence of the breakouts. Another problem with “shortcut” ways to clear acne fast is that the bacteria might become resistant to the treatment method used. Studies show that acne causing bacteria is becoming resistant to some of the treatment methods available including antibiotics. If you want to clear acne fast, you might be surprised to find that fast isn’t necessarily the best solution. You need to be patient and give the breakouts a couple of weeks before they clear off your skin. Here are the steps you need to take in order to clear acne fast.

Identify the type of acne you have

There are different types of acne. They are formed as a result of accumulation of bacteria, sebum, dead skin cells and toxins inside the hair follicle clogging skin pores. The main differences among the acne type are in terms of size and structure. Identifying the type of acne you have gives you a better chance of finding an effective way to treat the condition. Some acne types can be easily identifiable. For example, nodule acne can be easily seen with the naked eye. It’s also painful. Whiteheads on the other hand are pretty small and you might need to consult a dermatologist for a confirmation on the type of acne you have.

Identify the cause of the acne

Do you have a family history of acne? Did you eat something which might have triggered the breakouts? Have you been stressed lately of have a condition which might trigger hormonal changes in your body? There are many different reasons why acne breakouts form on the skin. Taking some time to identify what might have caused the acne will also give you a better picture of which treatment methods to use.

Keep the affected area clean and moist

As mentioned, acne is the result of clogged skin pores. Cleaning helps to remove dirt and dead skin cells from the skin surrounding the acne. It also helps to remove bacteria which might make the condition worse. After cleaning, it’s best to moisturize the skin. The reason for this is that dry skin triggers production of sebum which might worsen the breakouts. Apply moisturizer on the affected area to keep it moist.

Actively remove dead skin cells from your body. You can use home based exfoliants such as lemon juice, vinegar or honey. Apply on the affected areas and wash off. Exfoliation also helps to unclog the skin pores.

Use antibiotics

There are different antibiotics designed to treat acne. The antibiotics can be used orally or applied on the skin. Caution must be taken when using the antibiotics as they can have possible side effects. Also, given that there are different types available it is best to use them under a doctor’s guidance.

Home based acne treatment

Over the years, different home based products have been found to be effective in the treatment of acne. These products are easily available and don’t cost much compared to antibiotics. I have compiled a short report detailing 5 simple steps to getting rid of acne. The acne treatment methods included in the report are home based and don’t have side effects.
