However, once you go back to your regular diet your metabolism is still slowed down meaning that you may gain the weight back if you are eating the same amount of food as before. Fasting does decrease your appetite, although once your fast for weight loss is over your appetite will return and very often people feel hungrier than before. There have been some people who try fasting on alternate days and while this may help with short term weight loss, studies have shown that long term weight loss cannot be maintained by fasting.

Although your appetite may be temporarily decreased by fasting, overall, fasting only provides short term benefits and in fact may have binging effects causing you to be even hungrier than before.
