Choosing a Crate

Crate training your puppy is a great choice. If you don’t know where to start when it comes to picking out a crate for your puppy. Don’t worry, it is not as hard as it seems.  If you want to shop for a crate online, it will save you some time, and money.  In pet stores their will be sales associates to assist you. Don’t buy a puppy crate if your dog is going to become large. You want to buy a crate that your puppy can grow into. That will save you money. Next you will want to choose what type of crate. Crates come in all different types. My personal favorite if fiberglass. Fiberglass creates are strong, and sturdy. If you travel this will be the best choose for you.

Puppy Crate Training

Most dog owners look at the crate and think puppy jail. Your puppy will feel safe and comfortable in the crate. So don’t make the mistake that a crate is cruel. When introducing the crate to your puppy. Try using treats to lure the puppy inside. Close the crate door, and give the puppy another treat. Do this every time your puppy needs to go into the crate. Your puppy will understand the crate is a safe a positive place to be. Don’t make your puppy stay inside the crate, longer then a couple hour at one time. Puppies that are inside a crate for to long will soil, and poop inside the crate. Once that happens it will be almost impossible to stop. If you know you will be gone for a long period of time. Hire a pet sitter, or dog walker to let your puppy outside to use the potty. If your puppy does soil the crate it might suffer from separation anxiety. Or you left the puppy inside the crate for to long. It is not the puppies fault. You are to blame if your puppy cant get outside to use the potty. Puppies have small bladders and very little bladder control. Puppies need to be let outside every couple of hours to relive themselves.
