Opus Energy Ltd was recently featured in The Sunday Times top track 250 for the UK’s mid-market private businesses. The newspaper league table ranks companies by the sales figures from the previous year. Opus Energy was featured after a rise of 31% in sales from April 2009 to March 2010. A typical Top Track 250 company tends to have between 100 and 13,000 staff. The businesses are usually established by families or entrepreneurs.
Following the feature the company announced they would create a further 100 jobs by the end of 2012. The company currently employs 385 staff at both of its Northampton and Oxford offices. The business’ rapid growth during the first six months of 2011 has allowed it to create extra job openings. Opus Energy Ltd is currently working with local employment agencies and is also encouraging people with relevant trade information and a strong customer focus to apply for the new positions. The company also won the Independent Energy Supplier of the Year award in 2010 for their energy service.
Over the past two years 70% of the power Opus Energy has provided has been either from low-carbon sources or renewable. The company has provided 37% of power from renewable generators and the remaining 33% from CHP (Combined Heat and Power) generators. By providing a cleaner energy supply the company can reduce their customer’s role in climate change and increase awareness of their customer’s decision to reduce energy consumption.
