Bikram Chouldhury is the founder of Bikram Yoga.  He founded this after studying with Bishnu Ghosh, the brother of Paramahaansa Yogananada, and with the help of a Los Angeles company.

Within this form of yoga there are 26 different poses.  Each of them is done in a sauna with temperatures between 90 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit and 40% humidity.  The reason for this is that it will allow you to be more flexible and the sweating will also help with detoxification.  Of course, your body’s muscles, bones and internal organs will benefit here as well.

Each Bikram Yoga class lasts 90 minutes.  Herein you will learn 2 different breathing techniques and hear some very specific dialog being used.  Even so, people of all body types and in all types of physical fitness and at a wide variety of skill levels can benefit from what is considered a type of “beginner’s yoga.”  In fact, this form of yoga will even improve the health of those suffering from chronic conditions.  This is evidenced by Bikram himself who used this form of yoga to overcome a serious knee injury in which it was thought that he’d never be able to walk again.  

With all of the great benefits of Bikram Yoga, you should not be surprised that a lot of celebrities, athletes and musicians practice this form of yoga.  One such celebrity is Madonna herself.  Practicing this form of yoga has given Madonna a strong, toned, flexible body, young looks and lots of energy.
