Will the eighth seeded Dallas Mavericks upset the number one Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the playoffs? Guess not.

Lakers had swept Mavericks in season series three games to zero (3-0) led the way by the reigning MVP Kobe Bryant who averages 27.0 ppg this 2008-2009 season.

Mavericks have built a more strong offensively by acquiring Jason Kidd last year in exchange for Devin Harris but had an early playoff exit after being beaten by New Orleans Hornets. Dallas shuffle their roster again by trading Desagana Diop for Charlotte Bobcats’ Matt Caroll and Ryan Hollins. They also signed Gerald Green and James Singleton.

Mavericks are known today to have a triple threat led by their All Star Dirk Nowitzki and the two others was Jason Terry and Josh Howard. Dirk become inconsistent in scoring this season but Jason Terry always lifts the Mavericks in every crucial game. He’s also candidate for Sixth Man of the Year Award. Josh Howard played few games due to his injury but Gerald Green, Devean George or James Singleton really can’t handle the Small Forward spot.

Lakers on the other hand has all potential from the starters to bench. Mbenga this season been playing pretty well as Josh Powell. Remember that this two guys are from Dallas before and maybe they are in a revenge this time. Chris Mihm is back at the line-up to replace injured star Andrew Bynum. Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant will try their Spanish Connection against the Mavericks.

The Golden State Warriors upset Dallas Mavericks in 2006-2007 NBA Playoffs. Mavericks had a season best 67-15 record.
