Make Money from Home: Avoiding the Scams

The dream of working from home and earning a nice living is not as far fetched as you might think. There are variety of things you can do, which I will touch on later in this article, that earn some extra cash, but there are also a number of items that you need to watch out for that are scams.

So many online websites claim you make money from home. Where the concept is true, what they are offering is not. Let me touch on some of the basic ones that you probably hear about all the time and give you the reason as to why you should avoid it like the plague.

Envelope Stuffing
I am sure you have seen this one where some company claims they will pay a certain amount of money to you to stuff envelopes. Of course you have to pay them a fee for the privilege. First of all, even if this was a legit opportunity, how many envelopes do you think you could stuff in one day? You would have to stuff millions in order to make the kind of money they are talking about. Second, there are envelope stuffing machines that can stuff hundreds of envelopes in literally seconds and it would be far cheaper for them to go that route that pay you to sit at home and stuff a few of them.

Mystery Shopper
This is one of my favorites. For the price of a small fee some company is going to pay you to shop for them and you will make millions with little effort. Right! If you believe that I have a bridge to nowhere to sell you. The fact is the job of mystery shopper is a real job but the company will do the hiring themselves. And from what I heard it is a tough job requiring long hours and a lot of work. If you like to shop it could be the job for you, but again you won’t make millions from it. You will make a salary just like any other job.

Rebate Processor
Are you kidding me? Some company is going to show you how to make millions by processing rebates? It is difficult enough to get my own rebates back, now all of a sudden I am lead to believe that you can make millions processing rebates? The fact is there is no such process where you can make money doing this. Avoid this like the plague as there is no real way you can make any money from rebate processing.

Those are the big three that I can think of off the top of my head that you should avoid. If you are looking for real, make money from home opportunities, look into legitimate business practices, such as Avon, Pampered Chef and Tastefully Simple to name a few. If selling products at home demonstrations is not your thing, you can develop a website a sell products from Amazon and eBay through their affiliate programs. If website design or monitoring doesn’t thrill you at all, there are variety of websites out there that allow you to write articles on anything and everything that interests you and pays you based either on its popularity or a share in the advertising revenue generated from user clicks.

Each one of these ways I mentioned takes work. You won’t be a millionaire overnight or maybe even at all, but if you work at them enough you will create some great spending cash for that vacation, cruise or the new flat screen LCD TV set. Just remember to do your homework before you get started and avoid paying any company a fee until you have done your research thoroughly.
