A Memory Worth Remembering

There are four best years of every student’s life: high school years. Each and every college student and every professional has gone through high school and most would say that their high school life was the best. Just like every narration of one’s high school life, mine too, went through a lot of ups and downs. I may have fallen down more than once way back then, but in every stumble, I managed to stand up, that from the ashes of failure bloom the roses of success.

Entering high school was one of the most challenging experiences that I have been through in my life. When I finally graduated in elementary, I was very anxious to get to the first step of the next chapter of my life. I was excited to know how the first days of my high school life would turn out to be. But I never knew how and what high school looked like from a high school student’s point of view. I just thought that high school was for teenagers. What I wanted back then was to be called a teenager because entering high school would mean that officially, I was a teenager. I was excited but at the same time, I was scared and nervous. I never experienced adapting to a new environment. I was used to interacting with people whom I have already gotten close to. And so, it was really hard for me to adjust. But a few months later, I came out from my shell. I already built up my confidence and I was able to open myself to new friendships. Through that, I was able to overcome my very first problem in high school.

As my high school life went through, there were problems which I really couldn’t resist. I think everyone went through various problems way back in high school. The problem, which was probably the most common that I have encountered in high school, was misunderstanding. I did have friends whom I could count on, but there were times that our varied personalities would clash and from there arose misunderstanding. Those were the times whenever I would feel so down. I didn’t want conflict to arise among us because they were the only ones I had in high school. They were the ones who made me laugh every time I was down and low. They were the ones who listened to my everyday ranting. So, I found it very hard to handle even the smallest misunderstandings we had. So whenever we had problems as such, I always tried to fix it as soon as possible. Another problem which I think every student shares an experience with me is finding a way to fight peer pressure or temptation. My friends weren’t really the bad folks, but they were into malling every Saturday. Honestly, I wasn’t really into malling, but because I got jealous seeing them having fun every Saturday without me, I tried my best to join them every Saturday. But I haven’t noticed that it was already too much; it happened weekly already. So, it came to a point when my parent’s confronted me and that’s when I noticed, somehow, my grades turned out to have decreased. I found it very hard to cope up with the decrease, but the difficulty didn’t stop me; I tried my very best to improve my grades, to bring back what I’ve lost. My efforts didn’t turn to waste; it was paid off and I was rewarded by the achievements that I have received.

High school life is full of memories that are worth remembering. The achievements, the fun, the pain, and, the people were truly a great part of my high school life. I would never ever forget the achievements that I have made because it wasn’t just achieved over night, I did my very best to achieve whatever I have achieved. My efforts have been paid off, and I couldn’t believe that I was able to achieve those even though there were a lot of problems that I had encountered while trying to achieve those. I would also never forget how I laughed at my friends jokes, how I shouted for joy when we won competitions, and how I cried when I experienced the pain of being down. Most importantly, I would never forget the people who marked their names, not only in my yearbook, but in my heart. They were the people who made me feel special and who never made me feel alone. These memories, I will truly treasure the most, the things which made my high school life the best.

High school life has truly been the best years of my life. It was then when I felt a lot of emotions, when I was able to laugh and cry. It was in high school where I met a lot of people whom I can say I truly treasure until the end of time. It was in high school when I finally got out of my shell. It was in high school when Ive experienced to ride life’s rollercoaster of ups and downs. I may have gone through a lot of ups and downs, but what’s important was, I never failed to stand up and face the real world as it was again.
