Dying is just like taxes in the respect that it is going to happen to you and me. Over history, we realize it doesn’t matter who you are, you are going to face death. Famous people have no secret weapon against death. They are just like you and I. They will die. We will die. Death is a part of life. However, many of us look forward to eternal life in Heaven. After we all pass from this world, I hope to meet each one of you in a better place called Heaven.

What Happened Today in History?

1908 The first production of the Ford Model T automobile was built at the Piquette Plant in Detroit, Michigan

1930 Bobby Jones wins the U.S. Amateur Championship to complete the Grand Slam of golf. The old structure of the grand slam was the U.S. Open, British Open, U.S. Amateur, and British Amateur

1956 USAF Captain Milburn G. Apt becomes the first man to exceed Mach 3 while flying the Bell X-2. Shortly thereafter, the craft goes out of control and Captain Apt is killed.

1968 The stage musical Hair opens at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London, where it played 1,998 performances until its closure was forced by the roof collapsing in July 1973

1997 The Google internet search engine claims this as its birthday.

1962-1986 Cliff Burton, American bassist (Metallica) who died in a crash, member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

1896-1993 Jimmy Doolittle, American general who received the Medal of Honor

1927-1998 Doak Walker, American football player, Pro Football Hall of Fame, Halfback, Kicker and punter for the Detroit Lions, also won the Heisman Trophy

1940-2007 Dale Houston, American singer (Dale & Grace)

1927-2010 George Blanda, American football player, Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback
