Hormel Natural Choice Oven Roasted Deli Turkey is a natural alternative to regular turkey meat. The product is 98 percent fat free and does not contain any preservatives. Gluten free, the turkey is sliced and fully cooked, and Hormel boasts that it only minimally processed.
The turkey product contains 4 servings of 3 slices each, which works out to 60 calories per serving. The slices are packaged in plastic wrap, and the whole thing comes in brown cardboard that is made of 100 percent recycled paperboard.
I have purchased this deli turkey from Hormel several times over the past year. While it is not my overall favorite, it makes for good sandwich meat. I like it a lot better than many processed turkey lunch meat, in fact. Price wise, it really is not much different, either. It is about the same and sometimes less than brands like Oscar Mayer.
What it does not really have is that delicious look of turkey. I do not know why that is, but I tend to just ignore that fact. I like that what I am eating is more natural than the average processed turkey. Even though there is a lot of conversation these days on the meaning of “all natural” or, as this product states, “100% natural,” no matter what, I believe it is healthier than other options.
On the convenience side of things, I love that the turkey is in a resealable, zippered bag. That makes keeping the meat fresh a whole lot easier. This is important to me as sometimes it takes a while to get through a whole package of any deli meat.
I also like that the box has an open area so that you do see what you are buying and can see the packaged meat. It is always good to be able to see the product.
So, the oven roasted turkey does taste good and is quality. It comes from Hormel, which is a brand that I trust. I find that I like most of their products, and this is one of the few “natural” foods that I really do enjoy a lot.
