Raley’s To Go Italian Style Breaded Chicken Breast Cutlet is another of the many products in this fairly new line of products offered at Raley’s, Bel Air, and Nob Hill stores.  The brand has managed to come up with a number of chicken varieties, and some are better than others in my opinion.

One of the things I have found is that I really am not all that happy with breaded meats.  It seems to take away the taste and comes out almost bland sometimes.  The chicken itself is good, but the breaded crumbs just seem to mask the goodness of the meat.

The meal also includes linguini noodles that are topped with a rustica tomato sauce as well as provolone and Parmesan cheeses.  The noodles are pretty good, too, but another thing I do not especially like about meals like this is that sometimes the noodles practically stick to the chicken. Sometimes it is how the meal is packaged and where the linguini is placed in relationship to the chicken.

I am also not that crazy about the sauce topping the chicken, or the cheeses.  I just want to enjoy my chicken, sans all of the other ingredients. It is just not a combination that I appreciate.

The size of the cutlet is fine for the single sized meal, but the entire dish is one of the more high calorie ones in the line.  In this case, it is a total of 810 calories with 26 grams of total fat. Most of the other meals are much less than this.

As always, I value how simple it is to prepare this meal. In fact, there is no preparation other than puncturing the film a few times and then cooking in the microwave for 2 1/2 minutes.  Since convenience is practically my middle name, this works for me.

So, this particular product gets mixed reviews from me.  I have purchased a couple of times, but I am not really satisfied with the breaded quality of the chicken cutlet or with how the linguini sometimes sticks to the chicken.  I need more consistency in the texture quality of both meal items.
