This review focuses on Raley’s To Go Grilled Chicken Penne Alfredo with Broccoli. I just love the Raley’s To Go concept and because of the line, I have actually tried a lot of dishes that I would not normally buy. The fact is that these dishes are not only convenient, but tasty.
This particular meal is offered as a single size, that being a serving that comes in a 16 ounce bowl. All you have to do is puncture the plastic bowl covering four times and then stick it in the microwave for about 2 1/2 minutes with a 1 minute resting time. I actually have a lower wattage microwave so for me, I have to cook it for an additional minute, but that is no problem at all.
Once done, you let it set for a minute and then just remove the plastic and enjoy your meal. You don’t need to re-plate it or anything. It comes out piping hot, even with the resting time, and is ready to be eaten.
The Raley’s To Go Grilled Chicken Penne Alfredo with Broccoli is grilled chicken breast with brocoli in a a creamy Alfredo sauce. It is topped with Parmesan cheese. Overall, it is 680 calories.
I have eaten this meal many times since it was introduced this year, and on the whole, I am satisfied with it. The chicken has always been good. It cooks appropriately and is tasty. I actually wish there were a few more bites of the chicken, though.
There is a large presence of the penne in the dish. Overall, as a pasta lover, I like it. I have found, though, that sometimes not all of the penne is as tender as I’d like. In essence, that is my only real complaint. Most often, I run across this issue with some of the penne that is toward the deepest part of the bowl.
The sauce is good and creamy, and as for the broccoli, I am not a big fan of the vegetable no matter how it is served. I have eaten some of it here without too much grief, which is the best I can ever say about broccoli.
So, I like the dish on the whole. It is not perfect, but for $5, I do enjoy it and am satisfied with it.
