America Children Face Risk the Secret is Out
America children face some of the very same risk children around the world face there are for example 325,00 children between the age of 9 and 17 being prostituted and America this very moment there are thousands of homeless children and America as I write there are believe to be about 1,170,000 homeless children in America One and five children live and poverty yes America children are at risk. Today I would like to look just at one factor “Why are there 325,000 teenage prostitutes and America” one prostitute under the age of 25 is too many for any nation but 325,000 children being use as sex slaves and what some call the most developed country in the world.

Amplify, a child advocates group had this to say, “They face violence and pressure from relentless pimps who see them as a source of income rather than vulnerable children.” Some of the things pimps do to teenage prostitutes is starvation, confinement, beatings and physical abuse, rape, and gang rape, forced drug use. Then when caught they face a justice system that even try some of them as adults then they face their own demons of low self-worth, shame, guilt and the sadistic acts of a sick john. The question is why there are 325,000 children prostitutes in America? How could America the land of the free, the home of the brave, the humans rights capital of the world, be the home to 325,000 prostitutes? We fight wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, back rebels in Libya; but we cannot stop men from picking up teenage girls while the girls are considered criminal by the justice system and therefore felons this is a matter of belief. There are strong advocates that take the stance that there are no victims this could very well be true but some crimes require rehabilitation especially when another party is the sole benefactor of the crime. Actually there are two benefactors -the john and the pimp; the child loses three times for accepting a terrible way out of what seems an impossible situation.

Where do these girls come from? Here’s one example “Pimps allegedly transported girls as young as 13 from Oklahoma to cities in Texas, Florida, Colorado, Pennsylvania and Arkansas for prostitution. The young girls were recruited then controlled through threats, violence and intimidation. Much of the prostitution took place at truck stops in and around Oklahoma City” this is one of many examples of how they begin their trade but their background varies so they can basically be found in any of the following settings rural, metropolitan America’s inner city, suburbs, rich, poor, two parent homes, one parent homes, most would like to narrow them down to runaways and unwanted kids but that’s not the real story. These kids come from all walks of life and all are some ones daughter, sister, granddaughter but most of all they are human so they have certain rights as human beings and one is not to be the property of another.

This brings up the question- victim or criminal? Depending on who’s making the decision, some see them as being part of a criminal enterprise engaging in criminal activities. One Houston Texas case made it all the way to the Texas Supreme Court- here’s the ruling “The case of a 13-year-old Harris County girl charged with soliciting sex made it all the way to the Texas Supreme Court. The justices ruled that the girl, as well as any other child prostitute, is not a criminal, but rather a victim,” that’s the decision in Texas let’s look at some other comments “Nearly one-third of the juvenile prostitutes picked up by police are treated as offenders rather than victims, a nationwide study of teen prostitution found.”

Here are some things that are being done to help we believe the best thing that can be done is to get involve.

A Congressional subcommittee investigating the growth of online child pornography has referred the names of hundreds of people who purchased illegal images to state prosecutors around the country. Referrals were made late last month to attorneys general in 46 states. Information provided included names, credit card information and identifying details of the computers used to purchase monthly memberships at an illegal child pornography site.

Attorney General Eric Holder today announced that the Department of Justice released its first ever National Strategy for Child Exploitation Prevention and Interdiction. The strategy also provides the first ever comprehensive threat assessment of the dangers facing children from child pornography, online enticement, child sex tourism, commercial sexual exploitation, and sexual exploitation in Indian Country, and outlines a blueprint to strengthen the fight against these crimes. The strategy builds upon the department’s accomplishments in combating child exploitation by establishing specific, aggressive goals and priorities and increasing cooperation and collaboration at all levels of government and the private sector

There’s no new information here or some startling fact never heard before no newsworthy eye-opening, ear popping, mouth dropping statements or ideas, no name dropping but what you will find a question that we hope gets your attention and inspire others to investigate Child Prostitution or any other risk the children of the world face this is a call to action. To be on the lookout for pimps and predators in your neighborhood in your home check your child’s email, make sure he or she is not sexing, or sending nude pictures to stranger, texting older men, seen getting out of strange cars, all these and many others are tell tale signs. If you have a child that’s been a victim of abuse get the proper counseling and show extra support and love.
