After endless minutes of this solitary walk, he took a left, and carried on. A growing feeling was starting to flourish in his mind. The negativity of the situation was slowly blooming around it, contaminating it with the thoughts of failure and ineptitude. What if he’d already passed it? He didn’t remember having to go this far to reach the market in the summer, but, he thought, generally in the summer you’re not parading around in foot-deep snow lookin’ like a bleedin’ Eskimo. After moving for at least another fifteen minutes, he fell over face-first into the snow, exhaustion overruling sanity and determination, the pointlessness of going so far, so far and accomplishing nothing—
