2 3/4 Cups All Purpose Flour
2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
1 Teaspoon Salt
¼ Teaspoon Ground Cloves

¾ Teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
2/3 Cup Butter or Margarine
1 1/2 Cups Sugar
4 Ripe Bananas

1/2 Cup Chopped Walnuts, Optional
Follow these directions for the banana spice cake recipe:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease two cake pans using butter or margarine. You may use 8 inch or 9 inch round or square cake pans.
Mix together the all purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together in a large bowl. Add the ground cloves, ground cinnamon and ground nutmeg and mix well. Set the bowl aside. In another large bowl, mix together the sugar and butter. Beat the eggs first in a small bowl, then add the eggs to the sugar and butter mixture and mix well. Then gradually add the flour mixture. Mash the four bananas and add the bananas and vanilla to the mixture. Mix well. Add the optional chopped walnuts if desired. Pour the mixture into the two cake pans.
Place in center rack in oven. Bake at 350 degrees for about 35 to 40 minutes depending on your oven. Cool for at least thirty to forty minutes. Remove both cake layers from the cake pans.
