Chocolate Cake With Peppermint Frosting Recipe

Follow these easy directions to make your chocolate cake with peppermint frosting recipe. First prepare and bake the chocolate cake. While the cake is cooling, prepare the peppermint frosting.

This recipe takes about twenty to thirty minutes to prepare plus cooking time. This is a delicious dessert that you and your family will enjoy.

Use these ingredients for the chocolate cake:

2 Cups All Purpose Flour

1 Teaspoon Baking Powder

1 Teaspoon Baking Soda

½ Teaspoon Salt

1/3 Cup Butter or Margarine

1 1/4 Cups Granulated Sugar

1 Egg

4 Ounces Baking Chocolate

1 Teaspoon Vanilla

½ Cup Sour Cream

¾ Cup Milk

Follow these directions for the chocolate cake:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease two cake pans using butter or margarine. Use 8 inch or 9 inch round or square cake pans.

Mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together in a large bowl. Mix well and set aside. In another large bowl, mix together the sugar and butter. Beat the egg in a small bowl, then add the egg to the sugar and butter mixture and mix well. Melt the baking chocolate and add the chocolate and the vanilla. Then add the flour mixture. Mix well. Add the sour cream and milk and mix well. Pour the mixture into the two cake pans.

Place in center rack in oven. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 to 40 minutes. Cool for at least thirty to forty minutes. Remove both cake layers from the cake pans.

Now it is time to prepare the peppermint frosting.

Use these ingredients for the peppermint frosting:

½ Cup Finely Crushed Peppermint Hard Candy

3 Tablespoons Milk

1/3 Cup Butter or Margarine

3 ½ Cups Confectioners Sugar

Follow these directions for the peppermint frosting:

Mix together the crushed peppermint, milk and butter or margarine. Cook over a low heat, stirring constantly, until the peppermint is melted. Remove from heat and add confectioners sugar. Mix well or put through the food processor. Add a little milk if necessary.

Now it is time to frost the cake.

Frost the top and side of one layer of the chocolate cake with peppermint frosting. Place the next layer on top and finish frosting the top and sides of the cake.
