According to the latest Hollywood gossip, three cast members of the popular musical/drama show Glee are not going to be in the 4th season. The creator Ryan Murphy, has gone on record saying that the upcoming season 3, will be the last one for Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith. Murphy decided that because they started as sophomores in high school, it wouldn’t make sense for them not to graduate senior year.
Lea Michele Sarfati, who plays Rachel Berry, is an amazing singer. It is unfortunate that Michele is leaving because I thought her performance with Chris Colfer (aka Kurt Hummel) was awesome in the second season’s finale. Although the song was a different rendition of the popular showtune “For Good,” she hit all the right notes. I have seen Wicked with the original cast and I think she could definitely give Idina Menzel a run for her money. If you’re not an avid Glee watcher, Idina also played Rachel’s mother in the show.
Chris Colfer will definitely be missed because he’s a great actor and the only guy I know who can hit those high notes. However, I think Cory Monteith (aka Finn Hudson) is a pretty decent actor as well, but he is replaceable to me. He plays a vital role in the love triangle between him, Quinn and Rachel, but I don’t really care for his voice.
I think the producers need to give a larger role to Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco (aka Sunshine Corazon) after Rachel leaves. The show will need at least another male and female lead with amazing voices. Unfortunately, I don’t think any of the current cast members would be able to fill those shoes.
Everyone, including the Fox Network, knew they eventually had to have their cast graduate high school. It is better to let them go at the right time, instead of keeping some of the actors on like the original “Beverly Hill 90210” show did. Make sure you catch the first episode of season 3 on September 20th this year. Mark it on your calendars, the show’s timeslot is Tuesday at 8pm.
