Sorbiline (Sorbitol Solution)

Active ingredients present – Sorbitol Solution, tricholine Citrate and Sunset Yellow FCF.


Sorbiline (Sorbitol solution) comes in a bottle of 100 ml and 200 ml package. They are sweet mosambi flavored liquid used for treating liver dysfunctions and improve the digestive metabolism of the body.

Other ailments for which Sorbiline (Sorbitol solution) are administered includes subclinical icterus, hepatic congestion, haepatobilary deficiency, gall bladder problems. Pancreatic disorders, atonic constipation, dyspepsia, hyperlipemia and Hypercholesterolemia.

Sorbiline (Sorbitol solution) may also be administered for other conditions not mentioned above.

Sorbiline (Sorbitol solution) dosage

Adults suffering from liver dysfunction are recommended two tablespoon of Sorbiline diluted in water before lunch and dinner. Dosage may differ as prescribed by the doctor.

Children undergoing supportive therapy in liver dysfunction are generally prescribed a tablespoon of Sorboline diluted in water daily after lunch. In some patients doctors may even prescribe two tablespoon of Sorbiline (Sorbitol solution) to be taken daily after lunch.

Treating Constipation

Two to four tablespoon (depending on the severity of the problem) of sorbitol solution diluted in water early in the morning in empty stomach for adults.

Children are recommended a tablespoon or two of Sorbiline diluted in a glass of water to be administered early in the morning before breakfast.

Dosage may vary according to the intensity of the disease and also according to the doctor’s prescription.

Tips and warnings

Patients allergic to any active ingredients of Sorbiline should avoid administering Sorbiline (Sorbitol solution). All medications are subject to side effects, in case any side effects occur on administration of Sorbiline consult your doctor.

Possible side effects include abdominal pain, stomach cramp, nausea, vomiting, headache and severe allergic reactions. Symptoms of allergic reactions includes severe itching, skin rashes, hives, skin irritation, tightening of the chest, difficulty in breathing, trouble in swallowing, swelling of the  face, lips, throat or tongue.

In case any of these side effects of Sorbiline becomes troublesome, stop using the medication immediately and consult a doctor.
